Hawaii seeks to narrow Trump travel ban during legal challenge

The state of Hawaii asked a federal appeals court on Friday to issue an emergency order blocking parts of President Donald Trump's temporary travel ban while the state seeks clarification over what groups of people would be barred from travel.

A Honolulu judge on Thursday rejected a request by Hawaii to narrow the government's implementation of the ban, saying the state should directly ask the Supreme Court to clarify its ruling.

Instead, Hawaii appealed to the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, saying in a court filing on Friday that the appeals court has the power to narrow the travel ban while it decides how to interpret the Supreme Court's ruling.

"Every day that passes is a day when our government is turning away human beings — from newborn children to elderly grandparents...," Hawaii wrote in its court filing.

Hawaii should remember that they are within Kim Jung Un’s long missile reach.

“...newborn children to elderly grandparents...”

Babies and Grandpa? Welcomed with Open Arms! ME Males between 16-40? Not so much.

What a bunch of MAROONS. They live in freakin’ PARADISE (been there, seen that) and they want to destroy it from within.

And isn’t Hawaii up there in numbers, having one of the largest percentage of BUMS per capita?

Meh. Throw some more gasoline on the fire. Idjits.

Everyone with a scintilla of gray matter needs to understand that this is just another example of the Liberal Hissy Fit that’s resulted from the decent people of this country duly electing Donald J. Trump as President. It is going to be “interesting” to see if the Ninth Circus “weighs in,” knowing that the SCOTUS will bitch slap them forthwith. If I were the Ninth, I’d be beginning to get worried about what Trump is going to do to them to neuter them. For openers, there are, I believe three or four vacancies on the Ninth. Secondly, there are a bunch of old Liberals on the Ninth who will be moving out ( hopefully before each of them takes his obligatory EOL dirt nap). And lastly, there is the specter of Trump cutting the Ninth up so it maybe only has California or California and Hawaii within it’s territory.
The other thing that needs to “go away” is the practice of allowing a State’s sitting senators get to “choose” circuit court appointments, because Fineswine and Harris cannot be allowed to have ANY say on whom Trump appoints to the Ninth.

ah....the 9th Circus.

if it knows what is good for it, it’ll defer to the SCOTUS ruling.

It can do whatever it feels like doing, there is no consequence.

Been thinking that for the past few days. They should be kissing up to the Commander in Chief.

Political grandstanding. Lower courts cannot override SCOTUS rulings.

Lower courts cannot override SCOTUS rulings.

I think they hate Trump enough to try this if for no other reason then to have a perceived victory over him. And l will not be surprised if they water down the travel ban and the 9th circus goes along.

1. Hawaii challenges the President in court
2. Hawaii prevails at the lower court
3. The High Court hears the case and the President Prevails.
4 Hawaii is asking the “lower court” to overturn the “high court”

Why wasn’t this Lawyer Immediately and Permanently disbarred upon filing such nonsense.????

Not only within range and the closest target, but I believe their main target, for the same reasons the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor in 1941 - to remove the US influence from the Pacific and the So. China Sea.

Please join a push to write to Hawaii Governor David Ige and ask Ige to remove Attorney General Douglas S. Chin as his AG :

https://governor.hawaii.gov/contact-us/contact-the-governor/

IF thousands of people will do this the Gov might get scared and make the move to remove . Only he has the legal capacity to do so. . AG Chin is making Hawaii look bad . He is also becoming an issue that may cause to result in Ige’s failure to be re-elected . Ige wants to be re-elected. Is he willing to have AG Chin hanging like a dead albatross around his neck?

Let the Governor know what you think . Send a tsunami of e-mail for him to consider

What the 9th Circus does might be educational....do they like getting slapped down or do they want to try to save a little face? Any court that tries to subvert a standing SCOTUS intermediary order might very well push SCOTUS in the right direction....
