North Korea and Winter Olympics 2018 (S. Korea) - Problems?
4th July 2017 | vanity based on dates/location of 2018 Winter Olympics

Posted on 07/04/2017 11:49:29 AM PDT by topher

The Winter Olympics will be in PyeongChang, South Korea beginning on February 9th 2018 and ending on February 25th 2018.

With North Korea constantly firing ICBM's as well as talking about nuclear testing, it could make for more than an interesting Winter Olympics.

PyeongChang is basically on the same parallel of South Korea as Seoul but on the Eastern side of the peninsula.

My understanding is that there are 20,000 artillery pieces aimed at South Korea and many in range of Seoul -- I believe a city of 20,000,000 or more.

With all the provactions by North Korea, it is my opinion to boycott China and Russia even more.

Maybe do something to send a stern message for China/Russia to exert real pressure on North Korea.

The Winter Olympics 2018 could be a real mess unless something is done -- in my opinion

There will probably be no Winter Olympics if something involving the military is done.

China has a lot at stake here as Beijing is hosting the 2022 Winter Olympics...i doubt NK attempts anything during the Winter Olympics as that would assure the end of the regime...

Is this dude mentally deficient? Just saying, what do we fear, a military attack of some kind? Does he really want to invite an invasion?

And if he goes to nukes, then he can count on annihilation and destruction of his country.

but maybe he’s not exactly sane, in which case, all bets are off as to what he might do.

War with NK is the same as war with China and Russia ... Do not imagine this guy is operating in a vacuum, far from it - he does what he wants within limits set by the other two, especially China. He does nothing without Xi Jinping’s and the CPC’s approval.

Any war - or rather the continuation of the Korean War - will be a major war with possible use of nukes - something after the Zero Years, we are not prepared to fight.

Never forget Otto Warmbier!

Sending any American to N. Korea for Olympian games is unthinkable...traveling there for any reason is not an option.

Didn’t the Norks make noise when the Summer games were in Seoul, and the IOC ended up tossing them a few events to be held in NK?

I will be surprised if any events are held north of the 38th Parallel. North Korea is a modern-day “Hermit Kingdom,” and the Norks can’t stand the amount of attention that an international sporting event would focus on them.

What is the Olympic Committee thinking, allowing the winter games to be hosted in a place with snow?

In 2010, the weather in Vancouver was so mild that snow had to be hauled in by the truckload, for the games to go on.

Then the 2014 games were held in one of the warmest spots in Russia.

In keeping with that pattern, I nominate Hilo, Hawaii as a future site for the games.

Anybody going to these games has the mentality of the kid the NORKs caught and killed. What is wrong with the committee choosing this? The Olympics should have a permanent home in Greece. There all the time for training, no full venues of new stadiums and housing needed, every 2 years.

NoKo is still of the opinion that Nadabama is in charge. They are expecting a line in the sand.

SK originally was talking about letting NK host some events as a show of friendship.

Which would be like holding the Summer Olympics in Damascus and offering to let ISIS hold the Severed Head Polo finals in Raqqa. :)

AGREED!
We would be wise to stay HOME!!! They are evil and I don’t think our athletes are safe...Why give Norks a false air of legitimacy!!!

How in the world they got the bid, I have no idea...Their country barely has electricity!!!

Lol. Good one.

There will be no Olympics in South Korea if there is a major war.
