STEPHEN Hawking fears Donald Trump’s decision to pull out of the Paris climate change agreement could be the “tipping point” which wipes out humanity and turns our planet into a living hell.
The British professor is worried that The Donald’s rejection of this plan to combat global warming could cause irreversible changes which doom our planet to a grim fate.

In recent years, Hawking has become something of a doom-monger who is determined to sketch out a variety of grim fates which await the human race.
In his latest prophecy, the professor suggested our planet could be destined to become totally uninhabitable.
“We are close to the tipping point where global warming becomes irreversible. Trump’s action could push the Earth over the brink, to become like Venus, with a temperature of two hundred and fifty degrees, and raining sulphuric acid,” he told the BBC.
“Climate change is one of the great dangers we face, and it’s one we can prevent if we act now.
“By denying the evidence for climate change, and pulling out of the Paris Climate Agreement, Donald Trump will cause avoidable environmental damage to our beautiful planet, endangering the natural world, for us and our children.”

Not that I have any particular insight, but he may be telling what he thinks is the truth.
Lots of people make the mistake of thinking that if they're intelligent in one area, then that confers intelligence in others.
Look at celebrities. You can be thoroughly entertained by any number of Hollywood weirdoes. Unfortunately, they think that their ability to act/sing/dance magically confers wisdom in all other realms, and more unfortunately, the MSM will stand there and give them a bully pulpit to preach to people.
Important to whom? When?
Hasn't benefited my life, or that of my family, my community, city, state or country in any measurable way whatsoever.
Nor our collective health and safety as a species.

If that makes this thing a historically notable scientist, then I could say the exact same thing about any batshit crazy muslim ayatollah, too!

If Hawking buys the man made globull warming con he is not as smart as he or his fans think he is.
I have generally liked Mr Hawking’s work and I have read a couple of his books and a few of his papers. In fact this statement to me seems to conflict with some of his earlier stuff in physics and cosmology.
I have a interest in understanding Venus. First because back in the 50’s Robert Heinlein published,’Between Planets’,one of his teen science fiction stories (I have read almost all his work). This story was obviously before we knew anything about Venus. I wanted to go to Venus, ‘Have Spacesuit Will Travel’.
It was not until the Russian Venus probes of the 70’s that we learned anything about Venus at all. Now I have accumulated many things on Venus and the conclusion that many, including myself, are coming to. Is that Venus was never habitable like earth and is not the result of a run-away greenhouse effect.
In fact one guy I read stated that if Venus ever had surface water, it was way back in the beginning, when the sun emitted less energy then it does now and even then his conclusion was that possible surface water existed for about 10-100 million or so years not possible to really know.
The climate people want Venus to be a run away greenhouse, but it is not. It is just how the planet formed. Even reports dated 1999 and later, call it a greenhouse effect and this simply does not seem correct.
The surface temp is just under 900 degrees F and the surface pressure is 90 atmospheres. On the surface you would feel like you had 89 more of you on top of you. And the gravity is less but similar to earth.
Only about 30% of the sun’s energy makes it through the atmosphere, no where near enough to make the those kind of surface temperatures. It is becoming more accepted that Venus periodically is re-surfaced by vulcanization. And supported by mapping satellites that reveal the pock marking (craters) from meteors/asteroids is inconsistent with the rest of the observable planets, and it is believed that intense ‘dome’ vulcanization has been occurring because the planet does not have plates. The interior of Venus is significantly hotter than Earth, and remember we still do not know accurately the core temperature of Earth, it was recently revised upward (2013) by 1,000 degrees centigrade and just this year the mantle was moved upward by almost 100 degrees centigrade. Also so called climate scientists ignore this.
In conclusion the Earth is not Venus, and Venus was never Earth like. Sure we are going to heat up and the sun is going to expand and eventually the Earth is going away. However it is not going to be caused by man made climate change bs. It should also be noted that many others things are predicated to happen to our solar system long before the sun expands. Other solar systems passing through in a million years or so. Andromeda colliding in around 2 billion years or so. Or we could be taken out by any unseen rock.
Our newest telescopes have revealed as many rocks in Jupiter’s orbit as there are in the asteroid belt. Both of these places number in the millions, mostly small rocks, relative. However both places do have many rocks big enough to be potential planet killers.
So in conclusion I am for forgetting all about this man-made climate change bullshit (which is not real by the way, I probably have over 75% of the materials published on the topic if not more). We need to be investing whatever we can on making humanity ‘space worthy’. Even Mr Hawking admits that we will probably be taken out, before we take ourselves out, unless of course by its war.
Isaac Newton's law of gravitation failed that test for centuries - but now it's indispensable to putting satellites in stable, useful orbits. (Please tell me you understand how satellites benefit us.)
And then there's understanding the marvels of God's creation for their own sake.
I hate statistics and this guy would be able to see the faulty science in “weather stats.”
Unfortunately, he isn’t smart enough to know that the annihilation of billions will be from the consequences of their own moral depravity and free will choices.
As did George Boyle’s “Laws of Thought”, mostly a mathematical curiosity somewhat useful for philosophers & pure mathematicians. Until someone realized it would model switching circuits and networks for telephones and called it Boolean Algebra. Then it became useful for modeling/designing integrated circuits and the path led to whatever your pounding on to complain about Hawking’s work.
There are lots of examples where something that was developed from a completely theoretical standpoint that later had practical uses. Theory to direct application or the math used to develop the theory can be applied elsewhere. Example “String Theory” may fail as Grand Unification Theory but people are applying parts to understand surfaces & boundaries. This has huge uses in materials science & the engineering of new materials.
