Ten Republican Senators called on Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell to Cancel the August recess

The list includes:

Senator Perdue (Georgia)
Senator Daines (Montana)
Senator Ernst (Iowa)
Senator Kennedy (Louisiana)
Senator Lankford (Oklahoma)
Senator Lee (Utah)
Senator Rounds (South Dakota)
Senator Strange (Alabama)
Senator Sullivan (Arkansas)
Senator Tillis (North Carolina)

Republican leaders Mitch McConnell and Paul Ryan have squandered their majorities. So far Congress has refused to pass legislation to repeal and replace Obamacare, pass tax cuts and build a border wall.

Weekend after weekend American workers work overtime to complete their unfinished work.
Why should the elites in Congress be different?

So where are the other 42 GOP Senators?

Summer Recess is for kids and teachers. These clowns need to grow up. Most working Americans get 2 weeks a year.

Time for congress to man up and get to work.

Charades. The President sends and calls Congress' recesses.

IIRC part of the Presidents Art 1 duties.

It is time for the President to tell these clowns to fish or cut bait or he is going to tweet these fools into oblivion with the help of the American people. No more trying to politely persuade these worthless bastards to do their job. They have been doing the rope a dope since the election, believing they can delay and derail the Trump agenda by blowing smoke. There is absolutely no reason not to repeal Obamacare except for the fact they have been bought out by Big Pharma and the rest of the corrupt corporate medical industry. It is as clear as it gets.

Since the time of James Buchanan the senate has refered to itself as the greatest deliberative body in the world.

In actuality it is nothing more than the greatest collection of arrogant, over paid, do-nothing gas bags in the world.

Some labor unions are known for their ability to drag their work out to fill the maximum time available.

But they are all rank amateurs compared to the US Senate where the most simple issue is often debated for years and years without the slightest bit of measurable progress.

If this republican senate had actually wanted to accomplish major items like Obamacare repeal, Tax cuts, Kate's Law and building the wall on the border they could have finished it all by now.

But they are perfectly content to make great noise and smoke while actually getting little done.

It's what the pontificating bags of wind do best.

"There are many Senators whom I hold in a certain respect and would not
think of declining to meet socially, if I believed it was the will of God.

We have lately sent a United States Senator to the penitentiary, but I am
quite well aware that of those who have escaped this promotion there are
several who are in some regards guiltless of crime -- not guiltless of all
crimes, for that cannot be said of any United States Senator, I think, but
guiltless of some kinds of crime."

- Mark Twain

The whole discussion here is really silly.

The Republicans in Congress haven't failed to pass some key legislation because they aren't working hard enough. They don't have the votes to pass any of these bills.

Keeping them in Washington for the month of August isn't just a waste of time ... it's probably counter-productive, too. Sending these representatives back home to meet their constituents might be the most effective way to get them moving on these bills.

Something else to keep in mind here is that there's a damn good reason why the GOP doesn't want to pass a "clean" repeal of ObamaCare: Most of the people who would be screwed by a repeal are older Americans who voted heavily for Republicans in 2016.

“Republican leaders Mitch McConnell and Paul Ryan have squandered their majorities.”

More proof that there is scant difference between the pubbies and the dhimmicraps, at this point.

Time to back DJT and his work to drain this infested swamp.

I just saw where Sen Feinstein’s husband’s real estate company received the contract to be the realtor who sells 56 or so US Post Office buildings. The Feinstein family stands to make about a billion dollars at 3-6% commission on the sales of federal property. Why not take bids. These kickbacks are DEISGUSATING and should result in PRISON terms.

If McConnell doesn’t impose the simple majority rule introduced by Harry Reid, he needs to be removed immediately as Senate Majority Leader. Are the leftists blackmailing this guy?

Interesting to note, all of those states except one (NC) are states from the middle of America, CONSERVATIVE people.

Cannot cancel the August recess because beachside cottages have been rented.

The real reason the RINOs want to cancel the summer recess is to prevent Trump from making recess appointments for all the positions that the Democrats have been impeding.

FILL ALL THE UNFILLED SLOTS WITH RECESS APPOINTMENTS

This is likely also why Kennedy didn't announce his retirement last week. If he did, Trump could have filled his Supreme Court chair with whoever he wanted, as a recess appointment. I would have loved him putting somebody like Ann Coulter there, just to make it impossible for the RINOs and Dems to stop his real nominee.

Honest, open debate is long gone. Now it is all posturing on so many levels. They don’t even read the bills they vote on. I think the bills should be posted in full on the internet 90 days before the first vote. If they won’t read them, the American people will.

I think the bills should be posted in full on the internet 90 days before the first vote.

For the most part bills are written by lobbyists and staff.
Generally senators just follow the staff summary they are handed as they rush in the door with their usual hangovers.

They rarely know much at all about the actual bill or the details within (and don't really seem to care).
They just follow the script the staff lays out for them.

Remember these infamous words?

"But we have to pass the bill so that you can find out what's in it."
