I have spoken with two Canadians who went. They advise to spend your travel dollars elsewhere. It’s not all its cracked up to be.
It’s not all that? I’m shocked I tell ya.
I’ve been to Cuba. Nothing interesting about it except the architecture.....and it’s all crumbling. It’s like going back in time though.
Haven’t heard/seen ANYTHING about this on the leftist Miami radio or tv.
Same Obama worshippers that CHEERED the Democrat suck up to the murderous dictators.
Cuba was way, way better in the 1950s.
So was the Middle East, BTW.
...it’s all been BS.
As soon as they made it legal I lost interest.
My in-laws (from Britain) were so smugly excited to go to Cuba, as Americans weren’t allowed to go there. Lorded it over me. To which I said ‘Gee, I have no desire to go to Cuba’. After they returned (they were staying with us on vacation), they were strangely silent about their visit. I didn’t push it. I am a nice person.
” Its like going back in time though.”
They have a lot of 50’s cars which look like they are in great shape.
I have no reason to set foot in Cuba. There’s a good reason that so many have escaped from it.
One of these guys told me that a local walked up to him on the beach and said he was starving. Literally begged him to bring him some food from the hotel buffet in exchange for a ride in his vintage car.
How could he be so hungry, when communism is allegedly such a superior system, and the allegedly take care of people from cradle to grave??
I think we are presented with a staggering contradiction.
On the one hand, we are told by liberal radical types, that socialism/communism is a superior system, a better way of structuring the economy and society.
On the other hand, we are told that Cuba has struggled so much, and the people are poor, because of the trade embargo imposed by America.
If communism is such a superior system, and capitalism is alleged to be evil, in the leftist view, then how could a communist country such as Cuba, be hurt by a trade embargo from an evil capitalist country???
That’s very sad. If the man was believable in stating his hunger, and not your run of the mill ‘resident of the streets’ due to drug use, I would want to help him. Afterward, I would want to leave that sort of place without returning.
Now get Delta out of that market. Isolate the island again, let it be known we are here to help once the communist dictators and military leadership leaves.
Any way, the airlines were blami...er, explaining that it's because of traveler confusion on the State Department's travel status for Cuba, FWIW.
I wouldn't go even during the Obama regime. The Castro family owns he tourist industry. Going their just lines their pockets and does nothing for the people they force to work for them for next to nothing.
Yeah, but they all have Nissan running gear. Couldn't import a car but a new drive train? OK.
Heck, go to Miami or Tampa for some of the same stupendous experiences..... and keep your excess money in the USA for American citizens.
