O’Connor was a leftist freak, too.

O’Connor was a meathead, too. What’s never remembered is that O’Connor was a flaming liberal, as was every other cast member on that show, from the Bunkers to the Jeffersons, all carefully chosen by the main lefty, writer and producer Norman Lear. The show was a communist front group that tried their best to ridicule and undermine the Bunker character’s views. What they didn’t expect was that middle America would identify with Bunker. When the show became a hit, the commies all rode the wave to fame and fortune, enabled by the unsuspecting viewers who thought they had finally found a platform for traditional conservative views in all the liberal dreck that passed for television shows during the 1970s.
