“your condescension is not appealing”

Guenevere, just out of curiosity, could you explain how you think 2ndDivisionVet was being condescending to Melania? He was kind of dismissive of largely irrelevant countries (geo-politically speaking) that don’t get the royal treatment India is getting, but I don’t see how that equals being condescending to the First Lady.

Do you really believe that Melania should be out there greeting the leaders of every single country when they first arrive, regardless of the significance of the country and their relationship with us? Why should she be?

Our Melania is always perfect pitch

She's incredible. Since she and Barron have moved to the WH, President Trump has been back on his A-game. I'm sure that most world leaders are thrilled when Melania is there to greet them. It sets a nice tone.

I hadn’t put it together but you’re right—the President is back on his game with Barron and our Melania in residence.

What a treasure she is! I agree about world leaders being glad to see her. Melania seems to have a way of softening the rough edges of things and she’s just an uplifting person.

And I so appreciate how Melania always goes the extra mile to wear something special and appropriate for their guests.

I also think it shows that Melania has a very competent staff. I am sure that they are helping her learn what is appropriate and what would make the correct statement. She obviously is very smart and gives input, but I think she has excellent help as well--and as she should. It is such a delight to have a fine lady in the White House!

I can’t recall even one time when Melania wasn’t standing right beside DJT when welcoming a foreign dignitary to the White House? What’s with this “rare” sh!t?

I don’t think it really matters because she wasn’t elected to and is under no obligation to do political work anyway, but Melania wasn't with Trump when he greeted Merkel at the White House. That might say something about Trump's attitude toward the leader of Germany at the moment (or not—who knows?). She also wasn't with Trump when he first greeted Trudeau at the White House either, as well as some lesser lights (president of Colombia, PM of Denmark, etc.).

The headline wasn't necessary, but let's not get worked up over this, as the title seems to indicate that the Trumps are eager to have an especially good relationship with India's leader (not a bad thing).
