Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) told Breitbart News in an exclusive interview that he thinks the Senate healthcare bill looks too much like Obamacare. Senator Rand Paul joined Sens. Mike Lee (R-UT), Ron Johnson (R-WI), and Ted Cruz (R-TX) in opposition to the Senate bill. The coalition of conservative senators argue that the legislation does not do enough to repeal Obamacare.
Senator Paul explained his opposition to the newly released Senate healthcare bill:
I think the bill looks too much like Obamacare. It really doesnt look like a repeal bill. It looks like were keeping Obamacare, it keeps probably 100 percent of the Obamacare subsidies. In fact, we have estimated that it may have more subsidies than Obamacare. It creates a new stabilization fund of over $100 billion. This fund is something that is not consistent with conservative philosophy because its the government giving money to insurance companies. The bill keeps ten of twelve Obamacare regulations that causes the prices of premiums to spiral upward. So my fear is that Republicans in putting forward something and saying theyre repealing and replacing Obamacare and not making it better. It actually does not repeal and replacing Obamacare, it replaces it with more Obamacare or Obamacare-Lite, which doesnt really fix the problem.
So the four of us said no with really the intention that we can use that leverage to try to make the bill better.

ExclusiveSen. Rand Paul on Senate Healthcare Legislation: I Think the Bill Looks Too Much Like Obamacare
He is absolutely right. His cohorts include Cruz, Lee. + another conservative. Then there’s people like Collins who will not vote for ANYTHING where people lose their Obamacare. Solution: support red state Democrat senators up for reelection(2018) in return for their vote. Light a fire under their asses.
Sick & Tired of these clowns.
Let Obama care collapse and go back to the way it was before it was passed. FIXED!
It is better than Obamacare on almost every point. I think Paul Rand is just playing conservative martyr on this point.
However, keep up the pressure to improve it.
The real problem is the “precious moderates” i.e the a-holes in the Tuesday group. This bill was written to get thier votes. There’s a lot more of them the real conservatives.
Paul has become my favorite senator.
Not sure where he stands on deportations, but otherwise pretty much sees things as I do.
Not to worry, I’m sure Paul Rand’s bill will be issued for public review toot sweet.
I want 0% Obamacare, 0% federal government involvement in markets (healthcare, insurance or otherwise).
I believe we'll be at full scale "single payer" socialist/statist healthcare within 10 years.
Yep. Trumpcare is Obamacare light.
I predict it will go through some rewrites and pass just like the House bill.
(Before I get flamed to a crisp, let me give a disclaimer: that’s only my prediction, not my opinion of the bill itself)
Two tier at best. I think there will always be private healthcare of some type for the wealthy. Unfortunately, the GOP was marching into a headwind on this due to the decreasing number of doctors per capita going forward.
Thanks Rand. Obamacare is still the law of the land
The sad thing is all the Republican gains since 2010 have mostly been due to the disaster that is Obamacare. They ran on repealing it, and they have the power and they refuse to do it. Such liars.
This bill would have no significant effect on the ongoing collapse of the healthcare industry. We are still going to end up with third world medical practices and liberty crushing debt.
I think the President needs to lead boldly on this and go for complete repeal only. Go back to what we had before, that way any idea's that are currently "replacements" would have to be able to stand on their own merit and ninety percent of the crap in this bill would NEVER pass with today's congress. Only real solutions like selling across state lines would have a chance.
The problem is “repeal and replace”. The solution is just repeal.
Paultards being Paultards ...
I agree. Rand Paul is right.
Just ask for a straight vote for a full repeal of Obamacare with no mention of replacing it. Then when it fails to pass, Republicans, including Trump, should put the blame squarely on the Democrats.
Then move on to the tax cuts.
The monster objection was "mandatory" for both private and businesses.
The real problem is the precious moderates i.e the a-holes in the Tuesday group. This bill was written to get thier votes. Theres a lot more of them the real conservatives.
The “real problem” is preexisting conditions.
Near everybody in DC pretty much agrees they should be covered. But that isn’t an insurance product obviously. It’s a massive entitlement program and it has to be paid for somehow. There is no way for the “free market” to pay for those folks without a mandate. That means more government and taxes, unfortunately.
