Jerry Brown’s Appointed Panel Votes to Make Him Highest-Paid Governor
Breitbart.com ^ | 21 Jun 2017 | Assemblyman Tim Donnelly

California Gov. Jerry Brown is currently the longest-serving governor in California history, and will soon enjoy the distinction of being the highest paid governor in the country after a 3% pay raise.

According to an article by My MotherLode, a Gold Country newspaper, “the governor’s pay will go from around $190,000 to $196,000…[and] Jerry Brown will become the highest paid Governor in the country. Pennsylvania currently pays its governor just over $193,000.”

Unlike Jerry Brown, however, Pennsylvania’s Gov. Tom Wolf, also a Democrat, does not accept any salary.

The Sacramento Bee reports that every state politician will receive a similar pay raise:

The raises, approved Monday by the California Citizens Compensation Commission, come on top the 4 percent salary increases that kicked in late last year. Brown’s pay will climb from $190,102 to $195,805, while rank-and-file lawmakers will go from $104,117 to $107,240.

Salaries for other statewide politicians like Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom, Attorney General Xavier Becerra and Treasurer John Chiang also will rise.

One member of the commission, the Bee noted, said the December “increase was ‘reasonable’.”

...

The Los Angeles Times reported that at least one taxpayer advocate — namely, Lew Uhler, head of the California-based National Tax Limitation Committee —is questioning “[t]he timing of the raises for lawmakers, coming two months after legislators voted to raise gas taxes and vehicle fees by $5.2 billion annually.”

Ironically, all seven members of the commission are appointed by the governor whose salary they are charged with determining. No conflict of interest here.

The only thing I want to have happen is wake up one morning soon, and read that he’s dead! Jerry Brown and his father have been governor of California collectively for 24 years. And collectively, they’ve done inestimable damage that will take decades, if ever, to put things right. Furthermore, Gray Davis, the governor we voted out of office, was Jerry Brown’s first chief of staff. HIs replacement was RINO Arnold the Awful who diddled his Mexican maid for eight years while he diddled the state. It’s no wonder we’re where we are today.

CALIFORNIA...A State that is broke...gives a sitting Governor a raise? Does any other State in this Nation give raises to people already in office? or does it go into effect when a New Gov. is elected?

I live in Pennsylvania, and I didn’t know The Wolfe didn’t take a salary, guess these dudes just want their jobs for the Name and Power the position holds..

Oh come on! No one in the history of California has worked harder and achieved more towards the destruction of California than jerry MOONBEAM brown, I dare anyone too look at his long career of sucking at the public teat and find just one, other than his leaving a position, positive result of his leadership and decision making.

Well said. And after a lifetime of taxpayer-funded jobs, this incompetent boob’s combined pensions will be astronomical.

Lefties are quick to condemn greed and just as quick to practice it. The hypocrisy is overwhelming.

California needs to be broken apart and federal funding stopped as the state is audited. The Soviet system broke apart because they basically ran out of money and always thought they were to big to fail and were brain dead ideologues. As long as DC funds a failed state, this will keep going on until very bad things eventually happen.

We had Ronald Reagan for two terms between “The Browns.” Ronnie had his hands full, “fixing” what Pat Brown had done to the state. The first thing he did was sell
“the governor’s airplane!”
I don’t believe either of the Brown’s have ever held a job in the private sector. I have a friend who knew about Jerry’s attempt at becoming a Jesuit Priest. He was kicked out of the order because he was too lazy to do the manual labor the order required at their monastery in Los Gatos.
Also, thanks to the Loma Prieta Earthquake, the two major monstrosity freeway structures Pat Brown built ( the one on the SF waterfront, and the one in West Oakland) are gone.

Years ago the wife and I flew to Puerto Vallarta on vacation. Jerry and a female companion were on our flight. In a “do you know who I am” moment, Jerry tried to get a seat upgrade from the gate agent. Full flight—no go. He was back in the cheap seats a few rows from us. The female companion did the ordering for him for food and drinks. Then, in the PV airport, the size of a postage stamp, the female literally led him by hand to luggage claim and out to the taxi stand. You would have thought he was mentally disabled.

Keep in mind that Jerry Brown has now accumulated 4 different pensions in the California political system.

He was either Attn General or Sec of State-—Governor—Mayor of Oakland—and then Governor again.

All those pensions are paid according to the HIGHEST amount he earns.

This is a Golden Parachute—WRIT LARGE, IMO.

I would like to remind everyone that ALL California citizens who are on Social Security got a .3% raise in 2017.

That is $3 per THOUSAND......NOT 3 PER CENT-—POINT 3 PER CENT. Nothing like getting to vote your your own raise, is there???

Despicable.
