Thursday evening, CBS's Scott Pelley, who officially ended his tenure as the network's Evening News anchor the following evening, told viewers that "It's time to ask whether the attack on the United States Congress Wednesday was foreseeable, predictable and, to some degree, self-inflicted."
It's clear from Pelley's subsequent commentary that his answers to all three elements are "Yes." It's equally clear from the examples he supplied as support that he sees (or wants viewers to see) the problem as predominantly about the conduct of those on the right.

Chicken-Lips Pelley got fired?
Let’s just get this out there. The merger is completed. NBC-DNC, CBS-DNC, ABC-DNC, MSNBC-DNC, CNN-DNC. It is now proper to ALWAYS provide a party label to ALL mainstream media persons.
i.e.
Anderson Pooper - D
Katie Couric - D
Bill Maher - D
Always use party affiliation when writing about these Democrat activists that have posed as “journalists.”
I read about new phrase last week called, “Assassination Art,” in reference to the play going on in Central Park, but, of course, that term can be applied to all art emanating from envy which is the core of hate. In my view, those who practice this kind of art do not themselves kill people with their own hands..They just inspire others to do that. So, in my view, Scott Pelly and his leftist colleagues are a part of the core of that kind of inspiration, for actually killing someone is not the only goal. They love to kill the lives, hopes, happiness, family and work of the people they draw false conclusions about and hate each and every day. Call it “Pseudo-Assassination Art” produced by fake journalists.
Christians don’t even act Christian under pressure or when they upset.
Congress hasn’t done squat to try to drain the swamp.
To the contrary, they are trying to undermine Trump in his efforts at every move.
Meanwhile, Trump listened to Jivanka and misstaffed his own organization to the level that his own purported team is also working to do Trump in.
Look up he word “smarmy,” in your dictionary.
You’ll see a photo of Scott Pelley.
“So if someone shot this jackass it would be self-inflicted?”
No. But if 5 guys with baseball bats hauled his sorry a$$ into an alley and beat him half to death, that would be self inflicted. Shouldn’t have said something to pi$$ those 5 guys off.
N-i-c-e summation.
Probes the depths of the delusional prog/lib mind.......
And connects the prog/lib dots they are too stupid to connect.
Is he the guy who has that wide-eyed, nuts in a vice stare?
ESAD, Pelley, you worthless, fired, piece of scum!
“...Pelly May be right about this”
_____
Unexpectedly surprised. When the last of Pelley is seen, he will not be missed. Not one iota.
What an idiot!!! And I’m insulting idiots....
The lies simply become more brazen. MediaLiesMatter (MLM)
You mean the he “was asking for it” defense?
Without Pelley, where will we go to get our daily dose of sanctimonious smugness?
Thanks, Liz. I contacted CBS.
More than eighty years ago President Calvin Coolidge said in a speech delivered on the 150th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, July 5, 1926:
"Democracy is Christ's government in church and state... Here was the doctrine of equality, popular sovereignty, and the substance of the theory of inalienable rights....When we take all these circumstances into consideration, it is but natural that the first paragraph of the Declaration of Independence should open with a reference to Nature's God and should close...with an appeal to the Supreme Judge of the world and an assertion of a firm reliance on Divine Providence...In its main feature the Declaration of Independence is a great spiritual document. Equality, liberty, popular sovereignty, the rights of man....They have their source and roots in the religious convictions. They belong to the unseen world. " (Backfired: A Nation Born for Religious Tolerance No Longer Tolerates Religion, William J. Federer, pp. 270-271)
Whether the Founders were individually Christian or not, there was among them a strong Christian consensus that finds some of its greatest spiritual and moral expression in the scholarly works o fSamuel Rutherford in Lex Rex (1644) and in the writings of the 18th century jurist William Blackstone.
Rutherford reasoned that since all people are sinners, then no person ---whether king, prime minister, jurist, bishop, pope, pastor, president, rap artist, or diva for example---is superior to any other person. This means that no person is above the law. All people are subject to the law without exception, thus all individuals---Obama, Holder, Hillary Clinton, Harry Reid, John Kerry, Pres. Trump, Supreme Court justices, gays, illegals, abortionists, perverse sex-educators, and cowardly GOP insiders must recognize that they are sinners under the transcendent Law of God.
Blackstone greatly influenced early American understanding of the Triune God, the Bible, Law and nature. He taught that since the One God in three Persons is the omnipotent Creator who works and governs the affairs of men then all law should be consistent with His Revelation in the Bible. No law should be passed that is contrary to the higher law of God.
Furthermore, as all men are created spiritual equals in the eyes of God, then life, worth, dignity and other unalienable rights are conferred upon each human person at conception. For example, freedom of religion and speech are the temporal manifestations of a persons God-given spiritual property of conscience and reason.
These few paragraphs provide a very small snapshot of the Christian underpinnings of our nation's founding documents, hence our Constitutional Republic. The Founders also declared that our Republic is suitable only for a morally informed, self-disciplined, and knowledgable citizenry. They further warned that when a people fall into ignorance and debauchery, the weight of their immorality and stupidity will finally bring an end to our Republic.
That is precisely where we are.
