What gun debate? There is no gun debate in Washington, D.C. (baf alert)

There is zero chance that the shooting of U.S. Rep. Steve Scalise earlier this week will change anything about the gun debate in Washington, D.C.

That’s because there is no gun debate in Washington, D.C. The NRA has won. Not the debate — the gun lobby remains very wrong on the facts. But the group had won the politics — big time.

I have been a gun owner all my life. I’ve shot long guns of every kind and a variety of handguns. I have no problem with people owning them for legitimate purposes. I own a half dozen of my own firearms, several of which have been handed down for generations within our family.

There’s no debate in DC? None in his opinion, that is.
He has so many subjective “facts” that it’s hard to find a place to start.
For example, “ Civilians don’t need easier access to silencers...”

He apparently thinks that it will allow every firearm equipped with a suppressor to make on firing a whispered “Pffffttt,” sound. Just like in the movies, where he probably got that opinion.
If he doesn’t want a sport utility rifle either, then he doesn’t have to get one.

And to think, congress tried to get handguns registered along with machine guns back in 1932.

The argument was a RIFLE was more useful for home protection than a handgun.

The Constitution applies for everyone whether anyone owns a gun or not. This guy starts right off as a bozo.

I never said the 2nd Amendment was properly enforced. I implied that it should be.
>

The 2nd has no need of being ‘enforced’. Govt need do NOTHING and it would be as proper.

The only enforcement, which the govt DOESN’T do, is *PROTECT* our Rights (2nd, or otherwise), which is its PRIMARY job.

One need not fear any other Man, for they do not have the power to enforce their whims, it is GOVT which should be paid heed.

Back to the post in point, the author is not ignorant, but evil; inclined to dictate/rule over others. There is no recognition of others’ Rights, only his twisted version of the world ‘as it should be’ and the willingness to use GOVT force to make it so.

They lost. America won. There is and will be no “gun control” debate.

You must live in one of the “free” states.
The residents of NJ, MA, IL, CA, MD, CT, NY, HI are not so lucky, they have no Second Amendment.

This is in contrast to bullets from an assault rifle. They travel three times the speed of handgun bullets. Once they enter the body, they fragment and explode, pulverizing bones, tearing blood vessels and liquefying organs.”

Wonder if this pansy doc has ever seen what a 30.06 or .300 Win Mag does.

Grenade launcher. Don’t forget the grenade launcher. No assault rifle is assaulty enough without one!

Good point. If I'm ever in a restaurant that is robbed by men with rifles, I'll check for: bayonet lug, threaded barrel, and grenade launcher. If the robbers don't have all three, I'm going to ignore them and enjoy my meal. Who needs cold food? The rule with pistols is different. It's not the particular pistol so much as the shooter's style that matters. If a robber doesn't know enough to hold it right (see illustration below), there is nothing to worry about.
