President Trump signed an executive order Thursday to expand apprenticeship programs for students and workers:
We're joined today by Secretary Acosta, Secretary Ross, and Administrator McMahon as we prepare to make a historic announcement to train Americans for the jobs of the future. We have a lot of companies moving into this country. You see the unemployment rate is at a very, very low level. Job enthusiasm and manufacturing, business enthusiasm is at record levels; never been higher.
And a lot of good numbers are coming out, including almost $4 trillion in gain to the stock markets since the election -- $4 trillion. We just signed a big deal yesterday for hundreds of millions of dollars worth of equipment and military equipment going to be made in this country, in our country, for other countries.
We've got it going. We have to make sure the people are here and they're going to be well trained. So I want to thank my daughter Ivanka and her leadership. She has worked so hard on this. She understands how important it is. We're training people to have great jobs and high-paying jobs.

Obviously this is important to train people so they can do the jobs that are available.
Great Post!

Robert Mueller is saddened by this news of Americans having better employment prospects.
Mike Rowe should have been invited and consulted on this as he has been selling the concept for a long time.
Trade schools are much move useful than 75% of university programs. When I was in high school in the 1970’s there was a stigma about what we called “vocational studies”. The Voc kids were called “grease monkeys” or worse. The focus was on academics. Little did we know that general Arts and Science degrees would become almost useless for the majority of graduates.
Apprenticeships should have occurred years ago..They can earn while they learn...Much better for them without the crippling debt of traditional four-year college degrees.
“We want them signed on the dotted line....”
What on Earth is he talking about? I’ve never quite figured out how President Trump thinks Manufacturing works.
Regardless, expanded vocational training is a good thing. I read the order itself, and really don’t see what it does aside from say that vocational training is a good thing.
All of his executive orders set really great guiding principals. But they don’t fundamentally do much without some kind of legislative oomph behind them.
Im still patriotically skeptical about Trump being up to speed with the very limited powers that the states have expressly constitutionally delegated to the feds, including Congresss Supreme Court-clarified limited power to appropriate taxes.
"Congress is not empowered to tax for those purposes which are within the exclusive province of the States."Justice John Marshall, Gibbons v. Ogden, 1824.
That being said, Trumps uncommon common sense seems to be decentralizing government power back to the states, which is what we want.
"We will be removing federal restrictions that have prevented many different industries from creating apprenticeship programs. We have regulations on top of regulations. And in history, nobody has gotten rid of so many regulations as the Trump administration. And that's one of the reasons that you see the jobs and the companies all kicking in so strongly. President Trump
Corrections, insights welcome.
Drain the swamp! Drain the swamp!
Remember in November 18 !
Since Trump entered the 16 presidential race too late for patriots to make sure that there were state sovereignty-respecting candidates on the primary ballots, patriots need make sure that such candidates are on the 18 primary ballots so that they can be elected to support Trump in draining the unconstitutionally big federal government swamp.
Such a Congress will also be able to finish draining the swamp with respect to getting the remaining state sovereignty-ignoring, activist Supreme Court justices off of the bench.
In fact, if Justice Gorsuch turns out to be a liberal Trojan Horse then we will need 67 patriot senators to remove a House-impeached Gorsuch from office.
Noting that the primaries start in Iowa and New Hampshire in February 18, patriots need to challenge candidates for federal office in the following way.
While I Googled the primary information above concerning Iowa and New Hampshire, FReeper iowamark brought to my attention that the February primaries for these states apply only to presidential election years. And after doing some more scratching, since primary dates for most states for 2018 elections probably havent been uploaded at this time (March 14, 2017), FReepers will need to find out primary dates from sources and / or websites in their own states.
Patriots need to qualify candidates by asking them why the Founding States made the Constitutions Section 8 of Article I; to limit (cripple) the federal governments powers.
Patriots also need to find candidates that are knowledgeable of the Supreme Court's clarifications of the federal governments limited powers listed below.
Congress is not empowered to tax for those purposes which are within the exclusive province of the States. Justice John Marshall, Gibbons v. Ogden, 1824.
State inspection laws, health laws, and laws for regulating the internal commerce of a State, and those which respect turnpike roads, ferries, &c. are not within the power granted to Congress [emphasis added]. Gibbons v. Ogden, 1824.
From the accepted doctrine that the United States is a government of delegated powers, it follows that those not expressly granted, or reasonably to be implied from such as are conferred, are reserved to the states, or to the people. To forestall any suggestion to the contrary, the Tenth Amendment was adopted. The same proposition, otherwise stated, is that powers not granted are prohibited [emphasis added]. United States v. Butler, 1936.
I hope this Apprenticeship program develops, thrives and inspires many imitators. Such opportunities to update one’s professional skill set w/o sinking into a great debt will become more important as robotics soak up more low to mid level jobs across the nation.
Such programs will give working people more hope of earning a decent wage and holding on to that belief that in the right circumstance, each person has something positive to offer the world. I still feel that way.
It is difficult to emphasize how important that feeling of self worth that can only come from work is likely to become in the next 30 years.
Best president ever.
He should’ve had Mike Rowe involved in this. He’s a huge supporter of skilled trades.
Does anyone know what these regulations are that have somehow kept the private sector from training its own employees?
Same here, this really needs to be encouraged.
It would not surprise me if some of the kids from my HS who did what we called Vo-Tech school have done quite well.
I wish Trump could give Mike Rowe some sort of honorary position to be a spokesman, if he wanted it.
I have been raised in an “Apprentice” environment growing up in Germany. I did complete a 3 1/2 year long apprenticeship, just prior to moving to my country. This concept is private to private with minimal Government interference. The only thing you need Government for is to establish procedures having to do with recognized certificates, providing (in my case) 2 days of school learning Math, drafting and drawing, being able to read blueprints, English, able to write business letters etc.
While getting paid to learn on the job in a recognized program would be great, especially in the inner city.
Upon graduation pay will increase immediately.
Trump is leading the way, showing how workers and employers can partner with minimal government investment. When the Sec. of Labor was presenting to the White House Press Corp., One reporter was conflicted - What about gender, what about race.
The answer was this was for everyone.
You want to get out of the inner city. Get into an apprentice program.
The most important things are: Nationally recognized degree, School for Math, English, drafting and drawing, etc.
Needs to be at least 2 years long.
another campaign promise kept.
