CHICAGO A published report says the multi-state lottery association overseeing Powerball and Mega Millions games will dump Illinois by the end of June if the state doesnt end its budget impasse.
Illinois Lottery spokesman Jason Schaumburg tells The Chicago Sun-Times its another example of why Illinois needs a budget. The newspaper also cites internal lottery communications showing concern about Illinois finances.
The budget stalemate could enter a third year if lawmakers dont reach agreement by July 1. Republican Gov. Bruce Rauner and Democrats controlling the Legislature have been deadlocked since 2015.
The Sun-Times says Illinois reported $99 million in Mega Millions sales and $208 million in Powerball sales in 2016. Its unclear how much Illinois received.
The games are offered in 44 states.
Schaumburg and the Multi-State Lottery Association didnt immediately return messages from The Associated Press.
Good! GO!
Now this will cause rioting in Chicago. I see the people who play powerball, they are far more religious about it than church.
A couple years ago, Illinois held onto lottery payouts because of budget issues...
Do have better odds of winning the lottos than not getting shot?

It isnt like most people in that state aren’t less than an hours drive from another.
I’ll bet there’s a black holdout ....blacks can’t convict another black if its a white victim....jury nullification....and maybe money has been exchanged...
sorry....wrong thread
Still applicable in a weird way however.
The Lottery Game consists of taking in money for the tickets, and then the money is immediately spent(pocketed) by the politicians. When someone wins, the state then sets up a reverse loan where the payee gets partial or monthly payments. Basically, the debt (of paying the winner) is offloaded onto the shoulders of the taxpayers because the politicians spent the money as it came in.
ILLINOIS is planning to balance the budget on casinos (including a GOVERNMENT CASINO in CHICAGO) and slot machines.
Are they afraid that Illinois is buying all of the lottery tickets for itself in hopes of winning and thus getting some extra income?
If you ever win a big jackpot take the reduced payout up front. Never trust these scumbag politicians with the payouts over many years, who knows if the money will ever be there???
(I would like to have the problem of deciding how to take my lottery jackpot winnings)

It’s a highly regulated industry. I worked in it for many years, and you are incorrect.

Illinois Sends Dear Contractor Letters Ordering Them to Stop All Road Construction
Written by Bob Adelmann
Illinois contractors working on the states roads just received a Dear Contractor letter from the state ordering them to halt work because the state is out of money to pay them:
At this time appropriate funding is not available after June 30, 2017. Thus, work shall cease effective June 30, 2017.
Please bring all projects to a condition that will provide a clear and safely traveled way .
On July 1, 2017, all work shall cease except for maintenance. The department will notify you when work may resume.
At least there is some consolation that the majority of players are on the dole and therefore the money spent on lotto is recycled from welfare payments back to the state.
I worked for a medical transport company that provided Medicaid rides. They were forced to shut down because of the way Illinois treats their small vendors.Stop paying until the company goes broke. No more debt.

...
I don’t know, but the odds are better than the Democrats being fiscally responsible.
