Two hundred exhausted firefighters are battling the blaze and deserve to be recognised as the heroes they are.
.....
But false information is being shared on social media about the length of time firefighters took to respond.
At 4.12am one person wrote on Twitter: "WHERE ARE THE FIREFIGHTERS? THAT THE F*** IS TAKING SO LONG!? Fire getting out of control, people still trapped in Grenfell Tower, Latimer Road."
She then added: "One woman said it took them 2 hours to arrive when their station is 2 block away."
The woman who shared the false information on Twitter appears to be Palestinian and Canadian and might not even live in London.
Another wrote: "The firefighters were about 1 hour and 45 minutes too late."
It's not clear whether people have read information somewhere online and misunderstood it or they are sharing lies in order to discredit the emergency services.
This is the truth
The first responders from London Fire Brigade arrived at Grenfell Tower within six minutes.
London Fire Commissioner Dany Cotton held a press conference, broadcast this morning on BBC Breakfast, in which she confirmed there had been fatalities.
She said that the first 999 call was received at 12.54am and firefighters were on the scene within six minutes to begin extinguishing the blaze.

Modern era multi unit residential structures are built and equipped by code to have certain predictable profiles of fire containment and safety. This event appears to fail on all points, hence the cause for speculation.
Public housing owned by the government. Now you know why codes and standards did not apply.
the jackals on twitter do not know the meaning of truth.
According to wikipedia the buildings hallways were full of flammable rubbish like mattresses. Typical welfare housing. Full of trash.
I seem to remember RoP members torching their quarters in refugee camps to get better lodging and benefits.
Anyone else see that story?
Or they were engaged in inter tribal warfare like they do n the rest of the world.
I read the outer walls of the building were insulated with common Styrofoam, ground floor to top. Not the fire retardant added kind. Good God, it was a Molotov cocktail.
I am flabbergasted that a hi-rise structure of this magnitude, especially a residential occupancy, was not equipped with a fire sprinkler system. Did I read that right somewhere? Has that been confirmed?
Completely mind-boggling. I wouldn’t have stepped foot in that building beyond the 2nd or maybe 3rd floor.
Not styrofoam - it was reportedly Celotex 5000. PIR
How long before this becomes the excuse for stronger laws against White Christians?
And the Wiki page posted earlier says it didn’t have sprinklers, that they had been lobbied for but the government couldn’t come up with the money.

Just wow. Just damn.
Government owned housing.
Based on a “Bridge Too Far”, tardiness is an official British trait.
Then of course, there is the tea break. The call came right in the middle of tea
So, she is a filthy muslim terrorist, and not to be trusted.
Yep, see my #13.
So apparent from the white facade on the lower levels, where the fire fighting effort is effective from the ground.
were refugees being housed in the apartment building?
