I decided to see what Salon might have say about today's shooting, and sure enough, they were quickly out with outrageous lies in order to create an alternative narrative. By 2:55 p.m. Amanda Marcotte had posted the Democratic attack points which wholly blamed the right. In my opinion, it's well worth the time reading. I just would have posted excerpts, but apparently Salon is now banned here. I'll mention a few of the things she says, but there's even more in the article. It sounds like she got this straight from DNC headquarters.
The apparent main point of writing the article is to smear conservatives as violent, hateful and evil - and wanting to stifle liberal dissent - while secondarily calling for more gun control. While out of necessity Marcotte mentions that the shooter was a staunch Sanders supporter who hated Trump, it can't be more clear who the "good" and "evil" guys are to Marcotte.
...(G)un industry profits and culture-war politics have turned guns into fetish objects and have made reasonable gun-safety policies nearly impossible to enact.
Marcotte also casts the shooter as merely a madman:
No one is spared, not even those who have done so much to make it easy for any madman with a vendetta to get the weaponry he needs...
Here's her attempt at explaining how a liberal, Democrat and Sanders supporter could commit such an act:
The left-wing views of the alleged shooter might be surprising to some, but they shouldnt be. The gun industry and the National Rifle Association market guns with promises that owning guns will make a customer feel manly and powerful, and that fantasy has a power that can transcend political boundaries...
Then Marcotte makes even more outrageous remarks, claiming there are "right-wing street gangs forming," while mentioning nothing about Antifa:
Already there are right-wing street gangs forming, eagerly looking for an excuse to lash out against anyone they perceive as being on the left.
She also invokes the stabbing murders committed by Jeremy Christian, who was also a passionate supporter of Sanders, and repeats the media's and left's lies about the case:
Already two men have been killed, and a third was badly injured by an unhinged reactionary and white supremacist who claims he was acting in self-defense because the three men tried to interfere with his verbal assault on two women of color.
Marcotte even casts the left as the freedom protectors and the right as wolves:
There is every reason to believe that the baying alt-right wolves cannot wait to use this shooting as an excuse to escalate their efforts at using violence to quell liberal dissent.
Amazingly, after repeating the lies that ignore the iron-clad evidence in the Portland stabbing case, Marcotte claims that it's the right that rejects "rational evidence":
Fears of emasculation, racist anxieties about crime, power fantasies about silencing dissent through threats of violence, and a widespread loathing for liberals and their insistence on rational evidence all these things sell guns.
While President Trump called for unity and in so many words said that those who come to D.C. do so for the love of their country, and Republicans are saying as Ryan did that "an attack on one of us is an attack on all of us," the left is already trying to use this incident against the right.
She does a lot of that. She made the Center for Medical Progress into the villains and the people selling baby parts into innocent victims.
It sounded to me like the us in “an attack on one of us is an attack on all of us” to mean the politicians in Washington and their class, regardless of party.
Did they really? I actually watched the evening network news for the first time in months. I’ve pretty much stopped, after almost forty years of watching. NBC did talk a little about him being a Sanders supporter, but also suggested the whole country might also share some guilt for the “ugly rhetoric.”
“The feedback is typically insane and vile at the Salon.”
I think I was shadow-banned from there a long time ago. So much for free speech. I know what you mean, though, and that’s also everywhere that people can debate issues. The left doesn’t want to consider any evidence that doesn’t support their short-term goals of winning elections and re-establishing the Soviet Union right here.
They know only left wingers do this kind of stuff. So now the reason is because Trump has pissed them off. The media’s talking points will be “How can you blame him? People are afraid.
Yep. Pelosi could blame Trump, if she hasn’t already, and not one Republican will condemn her statement.
if conservatives went around shooting their enemies she would have been gone long ago, along with the entire staffs of CNN, Wa Po, NYT, etc.
That made me wonder what Pres. Obama and Kill-to-be-Pres. Clinton had to say about this. There was nothing from Obama, but Hillary tweeted her thoughts with the victims and then mentioned the game will reportedly go on tomorrow. That seems outrageous to me if true given that the senator was so seriously wounded.

That would be him.
To the best of my knowledge he never married her.
I went to the shooter’s facebook page before they locked it and some liberals were saying that.
She is a liar. Fakenews.
What a lunatic...an embarrassment to humanity.
Journalists are something that you need no brains to use for the job. This brain dead liberal is perfect for the job.
