The United Service Organization, also known as USO, supports military, active duty, retired, all veterans and morale. Part of that support on Hawaii Island has been providing swim gear for recreational activities for troops training at a military compound at the Kawaihae harbor for the past nine years.

A sad event , couched in 'fake' or inaccurate reporting . USO has only more recently joined the support efforts . Hawaii Gathering of Eagles put together the effort , brought in the containers , ran the whole show , supporting 1000's & 1000's of our soldiers , sailors and Marines , for years . Now USO takes ( or is inaccurately given ) the credit for all those years of support . Au contrare . Please comment in the comment lines of the story .

When I was in the Navy, there was a Rec center on base run by the Navy where you could rent all sorts of sporting equipment for a small fee. The USO had a space at SeaTac airport for service members because there were so many military bases in the area.

Mahalo, Leo. Lots of good stuff to read in your link. I’m sure the troops have really enjoyed that top notch coffee over the years. I always appreciate your Hawaii news when I see it here. Too bad for the thieves. I hope it was worth it to them. I won’t comment on the USO.

The "Opinion" page of WestHawaii.com today is a target rich environment to enrage liberals. Been banned twice by them and had to come up with new Disqus indentities to continue the festivities.

Just in case anyone wants a bit of sport.........

Thieves are everywhere, everywhere.
Until we go back to public humiliation punishments for shoplifting, and hard time for major theft, it continues.
Or, cutting a hand off works, like ROP does.

Theft is not as bad as SoCal in the last years I lived there or what I hear south Florida is like. Depends on location and ethnicity/drug use.
