It’s hard to imagine that it’s been one year since the tragic events that befell attendants at Pulse, a gay bar in Orlando, where a disturbed individual and terrorist opened fire upon patrons, killing 49 people and then himself. I, as a gay man, was shocked at the sheer carnage of the incident and believed it was a personal attack upon me and my people.... The time for a respectable, adult discussion for combatting gun violence has long since passed. Let us not wait for the next Orlando or Dallas before we start this whole cycle over again."

This perverted thinking all dates back to the era of FDR and the National Firearms Control Act of 1934.

That planted the seed of progressive thought that it is the inanimate tool (guns) that are to blame for gun violence - not the criminal.

Some of the major gun control legislation passed by the federal government:

• The National Firearms Control Act of 1934

• The Gun Control Act of 1968

• The Firearms (Amendment) Act of 1988

• The Brady Bill

• The 1994 Federal Assault Weapons Ban

Basically all that has been accomplished is to make certain types of firearms, ammunition and suppressors ('silencers') illegal or difficult to purchase by law abiding citizens, and to justify the existence of the ATF (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives).

In fiscal year 2015 ATF had 5,026 employees, and a budget of $1.2 billion dollars.

But criminals still seem to have all the guns they want.

In 2016 Chicago, where guns are basically illegal, had 3,550 shooting incidents, 4,331 shooting victims, and 762 murders.
