A close friend of President Trump said on Monday that the President is considering firing Robert Mueller, the special counsel who is leading the federal investigation into alleged ties between the Trump campaign and Russia.

Chris Ruddy, CEO of Newsmax Media and a longtime Trump friend, told PBS's Judy Woodruff that Trump is weighing whether to fire Mueller.

"I think he's considering perhaps terminating the special counsel. I think he's weighing that option," Ruddy said on PBS NewsHour.

Why did Ron Rosenstein appoint Mueller, knowing he was best buddies with Comey? Inquiring minds want to know. Surely this does not bode well for objectivity.

>What makes me really queasy is Sessions appointing Rosentein as deputy AG. That’s what needs to be looked into. I’m assuming Rosentein brought up the idea of a special counsel with Sessions, why did he sign off on the idea?

He didn’t talk to sessions. WH and the rest of the DOJ wasn’t consulted.

Trump played the whole debacle with Comey masterfully. I'm surprised more Freepers have overlooked that.

After watching that, do you really think he's going to be caught off guard by anything these jerks throw at him?

If the reason the special council was enacted is based on false doctrine, then the AG has every right and moreover has a duty to remove the said Left corrupt political hack, aka Mueller from a FAKE investigation.

Opps... should read, FAKE Matter al la Hillary Clinton’s email investigation... ummm matter.

There is obvious CORRUPTION in the opening of the investigation which will now become Null and Void because it was opened on false evidence and by Political Operatives, i.e. Comey who only keep recorded memo’s on REPUBLICAN Presidents.

They are so busted. Mueller needs to recuse now.

You don’t appoint a special counsel, when there has been no evidence whatsoever of wrongdoing.

The former FBI director, James Comey, himself said under oath, multiple times, that the President was never under investigation.

By Comey’s own admission, he leaked a privileged conversation with the President of the United States to the media for the sole purpose of getting a special counsel appointed.

Surprise, surprise, the special counsel turns out to be one of his close friends, and begins to hire political enemies of the President.

To say there is a conflict of interest would be a colossal understatement.

This has all the markings of a set up to bring down the President of the United States.

Without question, Robert Mueller has to go.

I am sure that the rocket scientist over at Conservative Treehouse will claim that appointing Mueller was really Trumps way of playing 3D chess and its all just Trump out maneuvering the opposition! Actually, Rod Rosenstein should be fired for appointing a special counsel when none was needed.

I’m assuming Rosentein brought up the idea of a special counsel with Sessions, why did he sign off on the idea?

I think Rosenstein more or less panicked when he found himself in the middle of the dispute of whether his memo to Trump was the reason Trump decided to fire Comey, or whether Trump made the decision before Rosenstein wrote the memo.

It almost seemed he hired a SC to take the heat off himself, which only lasted for a couple of days. He definitely looks like a bad hire as DAG.

LucyT :" Did Robert Mueller give James Comey Immunity?"

This issue needs to be resolved prior to any investigation by Mueller.
This is exactly the same kind of political mechanization that identifies "The SWAMP" from the rest of civility.
If immunity had already been offered by Mueller prior to Comey testifying before Congress and when he admitted to leaking information,
this would be as disturbing and conflicting as the Lynch meeting on the tarmac with Bill Clinton during the FBI investigation/ matter (?) of Hillery.

The Establishment can stamp their feet and cry in unison all day long it won’t matter. Trump has or about has enough justification to make Mueller go away. Mueller maybe a misstep or mistake away from being terminated.

Fire him and let the heavens fall. Nobody that supports Trump now will leave him, and anybody that hates Trump, well they can go on killing his effigy in Central Park.

Since we live in a post-reality era when facts don’t matter, if he fires Mueller that fakestream presstitutes will shriek “Saturday Night Massacre!”

The little panty wastes have been crying about Trump going on two years now. Waaah.

As I understand it, Rosenstein has a reputation of being some even player guy on Capital Hill. You could be right that he couldn't take any pressure so he even things out in his mind by appointing Mueller.
