...Support from the DUP, which is in line with the Tories on most issues, pushes her over the threshold. Ironically, it means that her effective majority is 17 - exactly the same figure as when she triggered the election six weeks ago.....

A painful exercise in futility?

Parliament definitely moved to the left, new Tories in Scotland probably more liberal than those that lost in England. Scottish Tory Leader (didn’t run for Parliament) is a big star now, she’s a lesbo.

If you told me +12 in Scotland but they would lose seats net I’d have said put down the crack pipe. Separate dynamics, just like Quebec in the Canadian elections.

The DUP seems better than the Tories on most things, they’re social conservatives and some don’t worship “climate science”. Not that they will have any effect nationally on those issues. This might mean good things for the local governance of NI though, keep queer marriage illegal there.

But they are fans of welfare that the Tories want to cut and they have specific brexit demands.

I heard the a-hole Labour House of Lords may feel they have a free hand to obstruct since the Tories didn’t win an outright majority. Should have put Lords abolition in the Tory manifesto, it would have won votes.
