Hillary Clinton plans to attend the launching ceremony of a warship. And not just any warship, but the USS Gabrielle Giffords, named for the liberal congresswoman who was shot in the head. For Hillary, every decision is still about wimmen and grrrls. But her decision raises the larger question about whether it is appropriate to name a warship after Giffords.
After all, Giffords was viewed as a helpless victim. That doesn't make for a very intimidating name for a warship. Giffords is called a hero because she survived. Does surviving make her a hero? I think surviving makes her a survivor. I think Giffords would have also been a hero if she had been shot while doing something heroic. But Giffords was just giving a liberal speech

Sorry folks. TOO late. This year marks 50 years since I raised my hand and swore to uphold and defend the constitution of the United States against all enemies foreign and domestic. Sad damn circumstance. Can hardly wait, and you KNOW it's coming. USS BH O'bama. So why not his buddies Hugo Chavez and maybe even Fidel Castro. I mean he was a freedom fighter right? For the little guy and peons. Not that he lived the life of luxury or anything after he came to power. I really do not like these people.

The gun control issue aside, no living person should have a Navy warship named after him/her. And that goes for government buildings, highways, etc. as well.

I did notice that Ed thinks gabby abhors firearms. Not so. She and margabby kelly-giffors talk about their ‘love’ for gun owner rights. Just be more responsible as is spelled out in the 2nd amendment. You know where it says you have to take training classes and then ask the government permission to (in some places) arbitrarily decide if you may actually carry a firearm. Yeah, the parts written in invisible ink and requiring a decoder ring.

Bammy shouldn't have anything larger than a LCS named after him.
In reality he shouldn't have anything named after him.

Gabby Giffords is being honored for being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

think calling the USS Gabrielle Giffords (LCS-10) a warship is stretching the use of the term. Even the Navy has not figured out what to really do with the “Little Crappy Ship” class vessels.

Heh.
Is this garbage scow a gun free zone? You'd think so but .....
The USS Gabrielle Giffords, named for the former Arizona representative, is a real U.S. Navy ship, but it isn't weaponless.

By all means... but NO guns on board.

Why name a ship after a living person? And why her? What is her contribution to the military and our nation? Nothing. Absolutely nothing.

Perhaps a garbage scow would be appropriate.

Should a crook like John Murtha have a ship named after him? How about senators like John Warner?
