It is beyond my power of discernment to identify the most over-the-top comment criticizing President Trumps decision to pull out of the Paris climate accord. But this tweet by a Harvard professor named Joyce Chaplin is surely a contender:
The USA, created by intl community in Treaty of Paris in 1783, betrays intl community by withdrawing from #parisclimateagreement today.
Chaplin teaches American Studies. Yet, she appears not to know how America was created. Ted Cruz reminded her:
Just sad. Tenured chair at Harvard, doesnt seem to know how USA was created. Not a treaty. Declaration+Revolutionary War+Constitution=USA.
He added:
Lefty academics @ my alma mater think USA was created by intl community. NoUSA created by force, the blood of patriots & We the People. Treaty of Paris simply memorialized that fact, of our total victory at Yorktown. Her claim is like saying a plastic globe created the earth.

Color me impressed--not.
Yup. Worked her way down to Harvard.
If she really believes what she says then all of her works need to be carefully examined to see what other error they may contain.
We are still subjects of the crown if they decide to take us back, but reality is, we are strong enough to stand by ourselves and defend ourselves. The recognition of foreign countries was earned and only a formality... for them. We could have cared more if they did or not... we were free.
Lefty truth = Propaganda
We are all born ignorant, but one must work hard to remain stupid.
Benjamin Franklin
Her and Kathy Griffin comedian would make great friends.
I wonder if that is in any way a history class? I imagine her lectures are basically: "Here is why America sucks".
Most classes with "studies" in the title are pure propaganda with no attempt at being fact-based.
Ben was a very wise man.
Obama was just the accidental spawn of a socialist strumpet and some random black man until the "Christening".
Good catch...
the essential significance of the Treaty of Paris of 1783 is that for perhaps the third (*) time in history, ordinary citizens of a country were declared sovereign unto themselves and thus not “subjects” to some potentate or another.
Thus, the notion of American exceptionalism could be considered to have begun at the Treaty of Paris of 1783. The Americans signed the treaty as sovereign citizens, and everyone else signed as either monarchs or subjects of monarchs. From this point of view— that of the institution and preservation of individual sovereignty versus monarchy or some other more primitive and so more inferior variant— the united states was the dominant signatory.

I like your comment. It is the most succinct way of stating it.
Yes, she is. That is why another thread about the US becoming conservative in “the next few decades” doesn’t ring true to me.

“Leftist Academia Is In Serious Trouble” (sub-title)
“From Kindergarten to college, our schools are breeding grounds for liberal ideas. Thats become abundantly clear in recent years, as weve seen the horrifying rise of political correctness and social justice beliefs on college campuses. These institutions are little more than indoctrination centers for the Left.
“But this isnt going to go on for much longer. We have a whole generation of kids who were buried in over a trillion dollars worth of debt, just so they could get worthless liberal arts degrees that wont ever help them get a job. They paid tens of thousands of dollars to be indoctrinated by liberal professors, before going back home to live with their parents.
“Thats why student loans constitute a bubble in our economy, and once it pops, colleges are going to have to cut back on many classes that dont actually increase the earning power of students. Coincidentally, the fields of study that harbor the most liberal professors, are the ones that dont help most students get jobs, like the arts, humanities, liberal arts, gender studies, etc. Someday soon, colleges are going to be forced to trim the fat, and many of these Marxist professors and diversity administrators are going to get the axe. Their positions are incredibly superfluous.
“As for the leftists public schools, lets not forget that the number of kids being homeschooled is growing rapidly, and most of their parents are conservatives. Theyre raising a new generation that isnt going to be brainwashed by government run schools.
“And lets not forget that the mainstream media, which has been largely wed to the left, is dying. So basically, every institution that the Left uses to teach its ideas, from the media to academia, is slowly crumbling away.”
