Against the backdrop of Kathy Griffin producing a video where she decapitated President Donald Trump; and yesterday hiring attorney Lisa Bloom to conduct a press conference scheduled for today, it is worth noting an interview Ms. Griffin gave to Vulture Media at the Equality Now Gala in December of 2016:

REALITY:
Trump is the bar room brawler and Melania is reserved and one of the classiest ladies out there.
But when Kathy ISIS Grifter tries to inflict emotional damage on her son, you better watch out. There’s no fury quite like a compassionate and loving mother’s primal strength to protect her young.
There were moments during the 2016 campaign when the outrage of Trump supporters reached its peak.
One of those moments was — just before Super Tuesday — when Cruz, Jeb Bush, and Bill Ayers spoke with a unified voice saying “Trump was inciting violence in Chicago.”
Another moment was when Hillary called Trump supporters “deplorable” and “irredeemable”.
Those moments galvanized the Trump campaign.
History will show that Kathy ISIS Grifter’s barbaric video, whining, and taunts to emotionally damage Trump son will be seen as another moment that took Trump supporter outrage to the next level.
MAGA. More than ever we need to destroy the cultural rot, corruption, and sedition in this country.
I would guess that her FBI dossier is about a thick as the Manhattan phone directory by now.
The criteria you give for intentional infliction of emotional distress, added with her earlier statement about targeting Barron... sounds like grounds for a lawsuit.
Yes, this backfired on her very admirably.
Those in her ‘profession’ might take note, but probably won’t.

The Trump-bashing protests will continue to get worse and more violent until some one gets seriously hurt or killed.

She needs to be locked up. If anyone had done this with Obama’s head (even a joke) the news and left would be screaming for life imprison. They’d already have been locked up.
