BERLIN (Reuters) - Europe must make clear to the United States that quitting the Paris climate agreement is not a straightforward process, and that fully leaving the deal will take years, European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker said on Wednesday.

So we joined in Sept. 2016~not quite 9 months ago, yet it will take years to get out? Makes no sense to me!

Technically the U.S. can’t officially withdraw from the agreement until November 2019 — though it’s possible to expedite that process by abandoning a related Senate-approved climate measure linked to the Paris accord.

“The Americans can’t just leave the climate protection agreement.”

I hope Trump reads that and makes it his personal mission to make that idiot eat those words.

Well, now that we’ve left it, we’ll be around for those years. Had we agreed to it, we might not have been.

So Junker yard dog is trying to pull the same crap on us as they are the UK with Brexit? He doesn’t realize we were never a part of said agreement. Obama had no right to obligate the U.S. without Senate approval, therefore no deal.

Nope. It was never ratified. If they’re too ignorant to know that Ebola wasn’t a dictaster with the authority to bind the nation with his mere signature, that’s on them.

I'm sure there will be plenty of lawsuits and compliant Federal judges who will prevent the President from doing what he is doing - just like the Muslim countries ban.

This isn't over by a long shot.

A voluntary agreement, never ratified by Congress. Invalid. End now without another cent spent on it. Immediately lay off anyone associated with it. Simple.

Thanks Barak! Not :(

But thank you for sharing the link!

“The Americans can’t just leave the climate protection agreement. Mr. Trump believes that because he doesn’t know the details.”

Well, the President just announced that the USA will not make any payments, or take any actions to implement - so go ahead and count us as in Junker, if it makes you feel better - your “details” don’t matter.
