I don’t like this. It is not supposed to become some great mystery and game show surprise as to whether Trump is going to govern according to what he ran and was elected on.

But filling his adviser rolls with liberal NYC Democrats puts such all too much up in the air.

I don't want a "middle ground." If Trump doesn't pull out of this POS agreement then the rest of his agenda is suspect.

I suspect a compromise or worse. Man I hope I’m wrong, please let me be wrong. He could have simply came out with NO days ago.

This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in Pursuance thereof; and all Treaties made, or which shall be made, under the Authority of the United States, shall be the supreme Law of the Land.
Art VI, Cl 2, U.S. Constitution

All laws and treaties of the United States are subject to the Constitution. If they are made IN PURSUANCE OF - according to - the Constitution, they are the supreme Law of the Land. If they violate the Constitution they are null and void and unenforceable.

The Paris Accord requires governments to meddle in weather issues and consumption and use of certain types of products. The Constitution gives the feds no such authority. The only way the feds can legally obtain such power and authority is by constitutional amendment. Until then, U.S. involvement in this Paris Accord is illegal because it is unconstitutional.

It’s a treaty, NOT an accord.

We either have a constitution or we’re a banana republic.

I’ll bet Trump uses this opportunity to bait the media. He’ll talk about something else for 30 minutes, and then at the end he’ll say something like “Oh yeah, we are also getting out of Paris accord”.

Either way, U.S. involvement in this Paris Accord would be illegal because it is unconstitutional and, therefore, null and void and unenforceable.

The President has authority to withdraw unilaterally from any treaty. Trump can just withdraw without ever sending it to the Senate. Sending it to the Senate was Obozo’s job. Since it was never ratified, it is even easier for him to withdraw from the agreement.

Tada.

I've been waiting for someone here to know this and state it. As you noticed, many don't know or have forgotten.

As an example, FR should have remembered that Bush unilaterally withdrew from the ABM Treaty with Russia that was ratified by the Senate in 1972.

I have a very bad feeling that Ivanka sold her father junk science and he listens and values her opinions.

I hope I am wrong. I just have a gut feeling he will either say we stay or pass it on to the Senate and it will be approved there.

I’ve said this on FR many times. This treaty was never ratified by the US Senate and therefore has never been in legal force for the USA.

It is merely an “executive agreement” by the Obozo admin. and therefore subject to easy repudiation with just a word “NO” from President Trump.

Obozo knew he could not get Senate ratification, and so he never submitted it to try to make it a binding treaty. It is nothing if President Trump says it is nothing.

We do not have to go through some multi-year process that the globullists want to foist on us, either. All President Trump needs to say is that that he renounces the agreement of his predecessor and the USA is not bound by anything in the so-called “Paris Climate Accord.”

I expect that after today it will have been made clear by President Trump that Obozo’s agreement was merely a scrap of paper that has been tossed in the wastebin of history.

Looks like more than a few minutes. Looks more like an hour. It said “12 pm” and usually that means ET.

If this was true, Obama would have sent the Paris accord to the Senate, but he avoided it because he knew it would be DOA.

Good points. However, now that Trump is POTUS, how many would vote for it as a way to rebel against his winning?

If he "compromises", as is now being guessed at, the hell with him!

It will be a stab in the back of the vast majority of his base and he can blame his idiot, far too well beloved child and her lefty husband for his downfall.
