I would like to see more specific details on how “it is a money grab.” It was interesting that the most recent Madame Secretary episode concerned the need to fund raising our naval bases worldwide several feet to protect them from increased storms. Forest fires have definitely been worse because of lack of good management, controlled burns, etc. One possible cause of increased sinkholes if there are more of them now is that the limestone of karst topography is soluble. If there is even a slight increase in the acidity of rain that could be a cause. Any research on that idea? As a person in my late 70’s, I do believe that in general the weather in parts of the country I have lived in is generally warmer than when I was in my teens and 20’s, except perhaps in the summer.
I too was wondering if the Senate needed to vote if this is a treaty. In the news today it was reported that 25 corporations have asked President Trump NOT to pull out. Perhaps he will say we pull out, while knowing that the Senate will oppose him, given the several GOP senators who are likely to defect.
I hope this is a banner day in the fight against Global Communism...which is what the Global Warming Scheme is all about promoting.

I am not saying GW is cause. I am saying we better get off our butts and do something about it. We can’t afford to keep building the same houses again and again that burn down due to fires. We spend billions a year on forrest fires. I’d rather that money go towards paying down the debt. Why accept your belief that we can’t do anything about it. It is not a up or down thing.....just because we are not going in this treaty doesn’t mean we can ignore the countries problems.
It is possible that the weather in places that you have lived is a little warmer now than when you were younger. But even the true believers are claiming only an increase of a degree or two in the last 50 years, and the way “greenhouse gasses” are suppose to work that increase would be mostly at night while you were sleeping or trying to sleep. ON a humid or cloudy night we all experience a noticeable “greenhouse” effect... the temperatures do not drop nearly as much. In a place like Arizona where there is little humidity it can go from over a hundred degrees during the day to very chilly at night.
The theory of anthropogenic global warming is that a small amount of CO2 causes a larger amount of water vapor to be absorbed into the atmosphere. Water vapor is by far the most prevalent “green house gas” in the atmosphere. The amount of water vapor in the air can vary greatly, but typically makes up 2% to 3% of the molecules in the air. The amount of CO2 in the air can vary also but typically makes up about .04% of the air.
As far as your recollection of cooler weather during your youth... we have experienced cooler times during previous decades. But we also have more vivid memories of weather anomalies than more typical weather. Because worldwide and local temperatures are cyclic this means that at sometime in the future we will likely experience cooler temperatures again. Solar cycles and sunspots which have been accurate at predicting coming cool periods in the past seem to be indicating that within a few years we will be experiencing cooler temperatures. As it is satellite records indicate that there has been no statistically significant increase in temperatures in approximately 20 years. That means that any temperature variation is within the margin of error.
The greater concern that is being commented on is that in the far north, the summer temperature is about 10 degrees hotter. This is supposed to be melting the permafrost which releases a lot of CO2. Also it appears that for at least some arctic river systems, there is a lot of frozen methane deposits that are now being released and methane gas is said to be more dangerous than CO2 gas.
I am afraid that your information is both distorted, dated, and has been refuted.
The sea ice extent at the North Pole is essentially back to what it was ten years ago. The temperature data has been repeatedly “extrapolated” from sensors up to thousands of miles away in many cases and easily manipulated. You are repeating alarmist propaganda. I do not have time at the moment to post links, but they are out there if you care to look at this a little closer.
I just got back to town after a business trip, and Googled “How fast is Arctic permafrost melting?” Below is the link that came up which had many articles listed below.
I was not so concerned about the polar ice because it is the thickness that is most significant. Even a thin layer of ice is useful to reflect back the solar radiation and protect from Earth overheating. However, even if coverage increases, unless the ice continues to thicken it does not change the issue by much.
Sea ice extent in the arctic can vary widely. This can be from a number of factors almost none of which have any connection to theorized “global warming”. You can find news articles from past decades where it was thought that in the near future the “Northern Passage” would soon be a viable trade route.
At the same time that the there was all this hand wringing going on about the sea ice extent in the arctic there were record gains going on in the Antarctic. Because the internet is literally being flooded with propaganda from alarmist sources it is possible to find articles making all sorts of exaggerated claims from people claiming terrible things are happening. And that is all that it is.
Do you remember the flight of airplanes that made an emergency landing in Greenland during WWII that were found under 260 feet of ice in 1988 over 40 years later? Some of them were eventually dug out. Do you think that maybe 260 feet of ice covering these airplanes was an indicator that the ice mass in Greenland was growing between 1942 and 1989?
The amount of ice in Greenland and the amount of sea ice found in the arctic varies from decade to decade. The only thing that it doesn’t do is stay the same. We are not currently witnessing anything in the arctic that is out of the ordinary. The only thing that has changed is that the internet and Google has made it possible for massive amounts of money and special interest advocates to create the perception that bad things or good things are taking place regardless of the current situation.
