WSJ’s Strassel Destroys Stacked Anti-Trump Panel on ‘Meet the Press’ With Facts
newsbusters.org ^ | 5/28/2017 | Nicholas Fondacaro

The liberal network shows were all busy Sunday morning pushing accusations and speculation about President Trump and his adviser Jared Kushner. Their discussion was drive by more anonymous sources telling The Washington Post that Kushner tried to set up a backchannel discussion between Trump and the Russians to talk about Syria. CNN even accused the action of being “treasonous.” The hysteria was also present on NBC’s Meet the Press, but theirs was shattered by The Wall Street Journal’s Kimberley Strassel after she introduced facts to the discussion.

“I think we are having a discussion that is absolutely divorced from reality this week. It is astonishing,” she quipped as she reminded them of how then candidate Obama (not President-elect Obama) set up a highly covert back channel with the Iranians:

Let me set the scene for you: It’s 2008, we are having an election and candidate Obama, he’s not even president elect, sends William Miller over to Iran to establish a backchannel, and let the Iranians know should he win the election they will have friendlier terms. Okay? So this is a private citizen going to foreign soil, obviously in order to evade U.S. intelligence monitoring and establishing a backchannel with a sworn enemy of the United States who was actively disrupting our efforts in the military in the Middle East.

we are ALL entitled to our own opinions frankly I feel Ivanka is to INVOLVED in this administration but that is my opinion I did not vote for her or her policies!!!!

I didn't vote for Obama or Valerie Jarrett. We don't get to pick who the president chooses to listen to. The irrational hatred of Ivanka and Jared by some Freepers is irrational. In my opinion.

Sorry..he was a private citizen....and he wanted to use russian equipment to avoid US intelligence..and lied on a security form

If I were in his shoes, knowing what zero was doing before and after the election, with his willing accomplices in the intelligence orgs, I would certainly not use available US comm lines, knowing they were tapped.

NeverTrumpers were all Hillary supporters, because their opposition to Trump would have resulted in her election. Thankfully, there were not enough people that stupid.

If Kushner was keeping contacts secrets from the executive branch (similar to Kelly) then he would be in the wrong.

I wasn't aware of General Kelly having any problems like that.

Did you mean to say Flynn?

Oops. I meant Flynn.

If Kushner was keeping contacts secret from the executive branch (similar to Kelly Flynn) then he would be in the wrong. But in this case he was working directly for the Chief Executive, President Trump.

Use a cutout...not a hostile foreign power SCIF...that was the really bone headed part of this planned caper.

Well, I don't consider Jared's attempts to circumvent the hostile intelligence orgs in an effort to establish comm links with Putin on behalf of the President a "caper".

Provided the Constitution does not prohibit the power of the executive or his hires on a given avenue, I wish Trump and his officers Godspeed in clearing the swamp and getting this country pointed in the right direction, minimally.

With 98% of the media out to destroy him piecemeal, by eating away at his officers and support, and almost half of the country lapping it up, I don't care if he went into the Russian consulate and picked up the direct link to Putin and spoke directly one on one.

So effing what?

Trump is the President of the US, and those around him work for him, at his request and pleasure.

He has quite a task, and I, for one, wish him the best of luck, and trust his judgement, yes, even in having his daughter and son in law in the inner circle.

It might be better, and serve the same purpose, for you to simply have a bold "I HATE JVANKA" in tall multicolered Mie esque type and have it on your clip board to paste anytime the trigger words (jarad/Ivanka) come into focus on your phone or laptop.

You use all fluff and no substance in your criticism. There's nothing wrong with a president elect and his team using a countries SCIF to communicate -- with that country!

It will, it always does.

The dems however, will try in any way possible to milk it, and anything else President Trump ( :-) )does, for political strategery.

They probably monitor the number of times he breathes in an effort to make a case for excess oxygen use by a sitting president.

Barring unconstitutional criminal behavior, anything and everything they, the dems/media say, is and serves only one purpose: Destroy the opposition figurehead, and re-establish control of the country.

Please do not help them in their endeavors.

Okay.

Democrat: Why Kushner did you not put in your security questionnaire your specific contacts with the Russians.

Kushner: Because the Chief Executive already knew about it.

Yawn.

I do not believe Kushner is a Russian Spy.

I do not believe he belongs in jail..even though technically...he is in trouble because of those security forms..you can only claim you forgot so many times

I do believe the best thing for this admin is to send jared and ivanka back to nyc..and get this back on track. He had a fabulous foreign trip...but its all about kushner right now..not his trip.

Thankfully. .the signal has been sent..with story kushner changed mind about paris.mthat we will pull out of Paris agreement

That will bring its own firestorm

Private citizen who contacted ambassador of a hostile nation to use their SCIF to avoid US Intelligence...and didnt report it on a security form

Were you equally displeased when the Clinton Administration installed their own personal compute system in the Whitehouse, separate from the official government network? Or when Hillary set up her private server to avoid government oversight?

Maybe you remember when John Kerry did private peace negotiations with Vietnam while an active duty reserve Naval officer? Did that shock you as well that he managed to avoid prison time for his treason?

I doubt it.
