Reporter says firsthand account misstated key aspect of Gianforte incident
A reporter who was a firsthand witness to an incident late Wednesday involving Montana GOP candidate Greg Gianforte and a reporter for the Guardian now admits she may have misstated some details of her initial story.
Guardian reporter Ben Jacobs claimed Gianforte, locked in a hotly contested special election for Congress, body-slammed him and broke his glasses at a campaign event Wednesday. Local authorities have brought misdemeanor assault charges against Gianforte.

Alicia Acuna also said that Gianforte got on top of the reporter when he was on the ground and began to beat him about the head. I heard her report and strongly suspected at the time that it was pure lies. I guess Acuna had gotten the word from New York about Fox News’ new direction.

Read this last night and news outlets were breathless that a crime was committed. These people are searching for anything to get GOP even down to local Dog Catcher. I do not really know what happened so let’s go from there. I would like to make several statements from my own observations and experience. To start with the press in America has become very unreliable and Democrat partisan. I was a policeman for 32 years and believe you me many witnesses seeing the same thing come up with differing observations.It a split few seconds with adrenalin flowing people’s recall varies a great deal that is why you have to investigate thoroughly and without physical evidence sometime it is hard to come up with the truth.
One more observation. After 32 years of policing I never was accused of physical abuse and never beat a person down but in saying that as a Conservative and honorable person the liberals,Democrats and Press have lied,cheated and been downright obnoxious and unreasonable and I have no doubt in my mind at their propensity to lie and my restraint is about to give way and I am not exaggerating. I honestly believe the Democrat Party is Evil and the Republicans have become self centered instead of honorable. On top of this the average American is uninformed,uneducated and selfish God help us.
The civilized people of America thank you for your 32 years on duty as a Policeman. You bring out a good point. Different people can observe the very same event simultaneously and still come out with varying stories or sequences.

As you probably already know, in modern psychology, Machiavellianism is a duplicitous interpersonal style, a cynical disregard for morality, and a focus on self-interest and personal gain. Aka a Dog Eat Dog kind of world.

According to Fox news reporter Alicia Acuna, Gianforte did grab Jacobs by the neck:
“During that conversation, another man — who we now know is Ben Jacobs of The Guardian — walked into the room with a voice recorder, put it up to Gianforte’s face and began asking if he had a response to the newly released Congressional Budget Office report on the American Health Care Act. Gianforte told him he would get to him later. Jacobs persisted with his question. Gianforte told him to talk to his press guy, Shane Scanlon.”
“At that point, Gianforte grabbed Jacobs by the neck with both hands and slammed him into the ground behind him. Faith, Keith and I watched in disbelief as Gianforte then began punching the reporter. As Gianforte moved on top of Jacobs, he began yelling something to the effect of, “I’m sick and tired of this!”
My misunderstanding, I thought it was another reporter who changed their story.
