Conservative Ralph Norman has beaten the more centrist, establishment candidate for the Republican nomination for an open U.S. House seat in South Carolina and now faces the task of keeping the seat in GOP hands.
The State Election Commission certified the results of this weeks runoff election after a recount Friday. Not a single vote changed from Tuesdays count. Norman finished with a 221-vote win out of more than 35,000 ballots cast.
Norman defeated Tommy Pope, the second-ranking Republican in the state House and a prosecutor who received national fame for prosecuting child killer Susan Smith nearly 23 years ago. [ ]
Norman moves on to face Democrat and former tax adviser Archie Parnell and several third-party candidates on June 20. Normans win leaves Democrats a little more hopeful they can flip the district. [ ]
Norman also heavily embraced President Donald Trump.

Why is this fake? Is Norman not a Trump guy?
Not trying to give you a hard time, but what makes this ‘truth challenged’?
If only South Carolina would do this to Linda they would be my new favorite state!
The fakenews part is where Dems have hope to “flip the seat”.
I put it in Italics: the part where the Dems are ginning up hope to “flip the district”.
next special election is for Montana at large next Thursday May 25. Some states have primaries for special elections. , but not MT.

Great news. And of course you’re right. The lying media like to pretend that Republicans should nominate “centrists” or “moderates” and avoid conservatives, because they are more likely to be voted in.
What they mean by “centrist” is usually left-wing RINOs who love to share pork with the Dems. The voters have gotten tired of that.
South Carolina may finally be waking from their stupor and stop electing Cheap Labor Express stooges.
Some good news in SC. No chance the Dems winning this seat, despite it having been in their hands until the 2010 elections (it should’ve fallen back in 1994, though the wily John Spratt managed to hold on for 16 more years).
Norman has stated that he’ll be joining the Freedom Caucus, like his predecessor, Mulvaney. I would bet that Paul Ryan did everything he could behind the scenes to help Norman’s opponent.
Norman also ran against Spratt in 2006 and held him to his third-lowest percentage. Might have had a shot if 2006 wasn’t such a stinky year for the GOP.
I went back to revisit the 2008 Almanac of American Politics which covered the 2006 elections. One somewhat unsettling thing I learned about Norman was that he was recruited by Karl Rove to run against Spratt (and we know Rove’s fondness for recruiting bum RINO leftists, and old ones at that). He was actually well-funded (about a million and a half $$), although still well outspent. He did seem a bit naïve, however, in reading the description of the race. Hopefully the 11 years since have seasoned him a bit. The national GOP had to cut him loose when they discovered scores of incumbents in trouble and needed $$, and of course, they lost the majority that year.
I’m sure they do hope to flip the seat. I hope to win the lotto and bed Scarlett Johansson.
I’ll settle for hitting the lotto. Scarlett’s bizarre personal views would be a big turn-off for me. There are lots of other girls out there who are better looking and have their heads screwed on right.
Too true, too true.
But I said bed, not wed. ;-p
