President Trump told Russian officials in the Oval Office this month that firing the F.B.I. director, James B. Comey, had relieved “great pressure” on him, according to a document summarizing the meeting.
“I just fired the head of the F.B.I. He was crazy, a real nut job,” Mr. Trump said, according to the document, which was read to The New York Times by an American official. “I faced great pressure because of Russia. That’s taken off.”
Mr. Trump added, “I’m not under investigation.”
The conversation, during a May 10 meeting — the day after he fired Mr. Comey — reinforces the notion that Mr. Trump dismissed him primarily because of the bureau’s investigation into possible collusion between his campaign and Russian operatives. Mr. Trump said as much in one televised interview, but the White House has offered changing justifications for the firing.
The White House document that contained Mr. Trump’s comments was based on notes taken from inside the Oval Office and has been circulated as the official account of the meeting. One official read quotations to The Times, and a second official confirmed the broad outlines of the discussion.

White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer did not dispute the Times account of Trump's conversation with the Russian officials. He said in a statement that Comey put pressure on Trump's ability to work on diplomatic matters with Russia.
"By grandstanding and politicizing the investigation into Russia's actions, James Comey created unnecessary pressure on our ability to engage and negotiate with Russia," Spicer said. "The investigation would have always continued, and obviously, the termination of Comey would not have ended it. Once again, the real story is that our national security has been undermined by the leaking of private and highly classified conversations."

Well, both parts of that statement were true, so what's the issue?
I’m not doubting that to be true, but I think they made up these stories months ago. It’s definitely possible they’re working with people like Powell and others, but they’re clearly printing BS.
If Comey the strange blued his face like the Blue Man Crew he could have gotten away with his curtain hide.
I think there is a strong possibility these meeting notes are a setup to track the leaks.
Chances are the Times got this information at the same time they received the “Trump shares top-secrets with Russians” memo.
They’ve just been sitting on it until AF1 was wheels up. A little going away present, as it were.
One of the “imaginative leaks” claimed Comey spoke of hiding in the curtains to avoid Trump on inauguration day... if that’s true then he is nuts.
It’s also his M.O.
He did the same thing back in March 2004 in the ailing John Ashcroft’s hospital room. He stood back in the darkened room among the curtains and Gonzalez mistook him and his bud’s for Ashcroft’s security team and family. And as I recall, Mueller was in on that scam Comey pulled off.
