People dont have enough to eat. People have no food. Theres great violence. And we will do whatever is necessary, and well work together to do whatever is necessary to help with fixing that, and Im really talking on a humanitarian level, Trump said.
Trumps remarks came during a joint press conference with Colombian President Juan Manuel Santos at the White House. Western Venezuela shares a long border with Colombia.
President Trump did not specify what kind of help the U.S. would provide but said the U.S. would work with Colombia and other countries. Congress recently approved $450 million in aid for Colombia, proposed during the Obama administration.
A stable and peaceful Venezuela is in the best interest of the entire hemisphere. And America stands with all of the people in our great hemisphere yearning to be free, Trump said.
Shortly after the press conference, the Treasury Department announced a new round of sanctions, freezing the assets in the U.S. of eight members of Venezuelas Supreme Court, which recently attempted to nullify the nations legislature and grant itself the right to draft laws.
The Trump administration issued similar sanctions two months ago against Venezuelan Vice President Tareck El Aissami under the Drug Kingpin Act for his ties to multinational drug smuggling operations.

C’mon. I behaved so well over there in the Refugee Camp that I didn’t lose even one FB “friend”. <^..^>
I don’t mind feeding the hungry people, if we can.
That is..............THE POST OF THE DAY!
There is no amount of money or humanitarian aid that will “fix” a socialist hell hole like Venezuela. The people will have to revolt and create a new constitution and representative government that respects private property rights.
Not our problem. What’s he going to do, occupy the country, take their oil, and put everyone on the dole? Sorry, yes, we should cut off the current government, close their oil sales, and starve out the current government and politicians. The locals can’t get hurt any worse. But who replaces them? At what cost to us? Are we going to get into nation building?
Trump needs to fix his own house first.
Umm, how about we fix America first?
I’d hire a half dozen of RoRo freighters, fill ‘em with food and medicine, and have ‘em stand off just outside the territorial limit.
When the heads of the Venezuelan leaders, generals, judges, and socialist party members are delivered to the escort ships in a big stack of duffle bags, then ID’d and checked off, the ships will pull in and begin unloading.
We’re now in the days of spreading the suffering. There really is no hope for this world. The United States has sacrificed many lives to get where it is and you can’t save the world. Trump is showing troubling signs.
The Kushners.
I don’t know who his audience is.
His populist views make me think he supports the protesters not the government.
The President needs to make a Public Plea to the Millions of University Students and Bernie supporters who proudly proclaim their socialism, to go to Venezuela on behalf of the American People and show them how their beloved Socialism is supposed to work.
They should be jumping at the chance.
Thanks.
And what a great day it is, having FR back up so we don’t have to venture into that awful slime pit that is FaceBook.
I have no problem with humanitarian aid.
The people who can fix the problem need food.
Then you give food away, it puts the farmers out of business, and then you perpetuate the cycle of dependency on foreign aid. That is what has happened to Haiti. You have to support building infrastructure, not just dumping free food on them.
Apparently the farmers are not doing good business as people are starving to death.
The first priority is to keep the people who can change the situation alive. Then worry about farmer’s businesses and infrastructure later.
Yes, Ivanka probably saw a sad photo on her FB feed.
“Daddy, do something!” syndrome.
Send all the Democrats there. That’ll fix it good!!
