We just had an appliance repair done at our home and in conversation the service tech told us that his son who didn’t go to college was in an air craft fab training program learning carbon composite applications and was let go last month because of minimum wage increases in Washington State.

I suggest that Jane go to Syria and sit on a rebel anti-aircraft gun just before the Russians bomb and see how well she helps the Syrian rebels. Or better yet, go to Pakistan and help the Christians there protect themselves from the Muslims. Perhaps she can martyr herself for a good cause.

The real minimum wage is zero, as many unskilled, low skilled or beginning workers learn when they are let go because it makes no business sense to employ them. Doesn’t bother the leftists, though; they want them on the government dole so they’ll vote RAT and keep them in power.

The son in question was a trainee.
Minimum wage didn’t destroy teen jobs in the 50s,60s and 70s.
If a trainee is laid off becasue minimum wage is raised then it really wasn’t a good field to get into then, was it?

What people should be saying is raising minimum wage causes inflation. That is a legitimate argument to make.
Depends. The typical future earnings and availability of work in the field after completing training, apprenticeship, etc. are the key consideration. Work cheap until you increase your value to the employer to the point where you don't HAVE TO work cheap.
