It wasnt a Cinco de Mayo party. It had no sombreros or tacos, as far as anyone knows.
Yet the University of Chicagos Phi Gamma Delta, known casually as FIJI, has nonetheless been reported for the bias incident of throwing a party where attendees wore construction outfits.
Relevant to know: Its fraternity house has been under renovation and construction for two years.
But activists dont care about context. If the left-wing arbiters of cultural appropriation get their way, FIJIs members could face disciplinary action.
The Chicago Maroon reports that the party was originally scheduled for May 5, but its start time was revised to midnight May 6. Its original theme was get hammered hence the Photoshopped construction hats on fraternity brothers, hammer and construction crane in the Facebook invitation.
The left-wing Latino student group MEChA issued a veiled threat May 4 to anyone who might violate the fine line between celebrating culture on a national holiday and undermining the cultural dignity of a group through ignorant and ill-intentioned appropriation.

This country’s education system has gone insane.......................
The Village People would be arrested today.
How many died of alcohol poisoning?
Since May 5 is a Mexican holiday and not a US Holiday, I would say that I could throw a party and dress any way I want since I’m in the USA and not Mexico. If you want to celebrate Cinco De Mayo, go to Mexico.
Would you get in trouble for dressing as Emperor Maximilian and the French army? “You won a battle but lost the war. You’ve joined the Rainbow Warrior on the short list of enemies France has beaten since Napolean.”
Their party was on May 6. I don’t know of any holiday on May 6 and certainly not one involving construction hats. The university is knee jerking bigly.
The only ignorant ill-intentioned appropriation is when we let the loons from the left be heard as if they were sane or had meaningful things to say rather than laugh in their faces as they richly deserve.
No no no.
One of The Village People dressed as a construction worker. Construction clothes are therefore gay.
Clearly this is a heteronormative assault on the frat boys...
It's not celebrated in Mexico, from all I hear. It's an American thing.
Is there something undignified about being a construction worker? Marxist college students who've never done a day's real work probably think so, just like they think being a cleaning worker, doing childcare, or being a medical aide is "undignified."
I wish them a world in which the things they need or want are supplied only by people just like themselves.
In 1912, the president of Mexico visited the Prime Minister of England...While there, he ate a meal and had something he dearly loved...
he decided his people needed this and had 10,000 cases shipped to America and then sent on to Mexico...
On the way, the ship containing the cases hit an iceburg and sank...It was the Titanic....
he hated it happened so much, he declared a national holiday...

There has been discussion in the Mental Health Arena about closing of Asylums and that jail facilities have become de facto Mental Health facilities.
All kinds of taxes are raised for Mental Health, but none gets there (because they really don’t want to solve it.)
But here is the solution. Right before our eyes. The Asylums already exist. Without bars and cells. Due to free tuition, the nuts just flock there. Problem is that they are propagating.
That’s even worse. That definitely means I can do what I want.
And it wasn’t the 8th of May, either.
Some people REALLY need to grow up!
What is happening is we are being forced into dressing and speaking in ways and following the habits that are deemed to be appropriate for our groups.Eventually that will include what education we will receive and what careers we will be allowed to follow. A Yellow Star for Everyone!
The primary sin appears to be the construction attire which is “cultural appropriation” of clothing appropriate to construction workers. Look out for Cultural Appropriation. It is more insidious and more sweeping than anything PC that has come before. It will spread through the society and make everyone feel like he is “in costume” either appropriately or inappropriately and feel that everyone is looking at him and judging him by the role he assumes or expropriates by dressing (and/or speaking) the way he does. Ultimately we are to have n Agency that determine what we may wear and how and what we ma speak to keep us from “culturally appropriating” the ways of others that will all be rigidly defined in the Rules.
Just wanted to point out that the U of Chicago newspaper is actually called The Maroon. Not kidding.
