The personal appeal that President Trump said he received from Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau last month leading him to renegotiate NAFTA was only made after Trumps son-in-law and top aide Jared Kushner called Trudeaus office in Ottawa and begged him to talk some sense into the commander-in-chief, a report says.
The unconventional move was revealed Monday by the National Post, who spoke to several government sources familiar with the desperate pleas from Washington.
Torontos Metro newspaper later revealed that Kushner was the government official who made the phone call.

PLEASE keep in mind that the same Murdoch Boys running FoxNews into the ground are publishing this tripe.
Trump must have said 100 times that he would renegotiate trade deals because they were done by stupid people. Pulling out of NAFTA was NEVER his be all and end all. He said, if he can’t renegotiate the deal then he’ll leave. On this one he did exactly what he said he’d do and quite frankly he is much farther ahead then I could have ever imagined on this issue. All that while the congress is doing everything in their power to weaken his negotiating hand. If the country were united the rest of the world would really be in trouble (in terms of globalization).
this isnt the Jared and Ivanka show.

It appears that in fact, it is.
It appears you are correct. It was make big changes or get rid of it.
Mr. Trump is a master negotiator and a savvy buinessman, however posters on this thread seem to think that his son-in-law and daughter are master Svengalis weaving a spell on him.
If Mr. Kushner called Mr. Trudeau, it is most likely that he did so at the behest of the President. It was an effective tactic to get both Canada, and Mexico as well, back to the table and prepared to negotiate.
Not sure what the problem is here. Seems more like the opening move in a ‘good cop, bad cop’ routine to me.
Now, the next time Trump threatens to walk away from the negotiating table, the Canadians will rush to Kushner for help, thinking him to be the moderating voice in the administration. And so he agrees to help, but the Canadians will just need to make a few concessions to help him talk Trump down first...
Let’s wait until we actually see the end deal before we take issue with the strategies being used to negotiate it.
Now I dont care for nor do I trust Donald Trump or his liberal daughter and son in law. But Trump never said he would pull out of NAFTA. He ran on a platform of renegotiating the bad trade deals we are in.
So it seems to me, this is a promise Trump is actually trying to keep.
Will somebody please remind Trump that we didn’t vote for his idjit SIL?
“This has got to stop...this isnt the Jared and Ivanka show.”
As long as the media thinks they can use the Kushner’s to divide President Trump’s base of support they will continue to put out these stories & those here on FR who want to make sure President Trump is a 1 term president will keep posting them, IMO.
Agreed, keep acting like a herd of sheep and falling for their stories...first it was chaos and confusion in the whitehouse, Trump’s mentally unstable, Bannon’s out, McFarland’s out, McMaster is a double-agent, on and on and on...one minute Trump is “the man”, the next minute he’s a weak kneed globalist...and lastly, the freakin idea is not to pull out of trade agreements but to renegotiate them to bring them back into balance and that is exactly what he talked about non-stop during the campaign...once he got in office, he threatened to pull out of NAFTA and within 48 hours both Canada and Mexico are ready to talk and renegotiate the agreement...so, because of the way he brought them back to the table so quickly, he is in the strongest position to make the right deal for America...
TG
NAFTA sucks. The USA should only have unilateral trade agreements. We need the border tax today!
Get Jivanka out of our presidential administration!!!
