(CNN) - A California homeowner exercised his right to bear arms -- and take pictures -- after a group of people tried to break into his home.
Yan Zhang of Chino Hills was at home with his wife and children when five people tried to enter the house through a balcony in the back.
Zhang grabbed his gun, told his wife to hide the kids and then went to work.

Zhang held three of the suspects (two ran off) at gunpoint on pool deck. Nerve-wracking stuff for sure, but he was still chill enough to exercise another one of America's most cherished rights -- the right to take a cell phone camera photo at anytime.
And what a picture it is: You can stare right down the length of Zhang's handgun and then look at the three would-be burglars, lying almost face-down on the concrete with their hands out where you can see them.

From the article:
“(Zhang) got a gun so he fired a warning shot and was able to apprehend them until the police showed up.”
I thought it was illegal to fire a warning shot?

It is illegal for white males (including white Hispanic males) to fire warning shots. I’m not sure how that law applies to Yan Zhang, but it probably depends on his income, his education, where he was born, and whether he has a productive job or a government job.

No, officer. I meant to say they scared me so bad that my bumbling self accidentally pulled the trigger and I fired an un-intentional round. THANK GOD no one was hurt. But they did seem to grow more compliant after that.........

One thing in general about Asians is they rarely commit violent crimes or thefts in comparison to other minority groups.

If he had submitted his photos first to a US Media outfit, how many people think this would have grown into a major anti diversity news story..?
for me the lesson here is the US media will respond with an diWORSE-ity story AFTER it becomes a major story *elsewhere*.

I had a sticker on my slider in Fl. It read;
“If you come through this door you will be killed”, in Spanish also.
Attny friend told me to remove it as it indicates ‘Premeditation and intent”.
So I did.

Warning shots should be a warning to the next guy.

The problem he has now is that he has disrespected these foreign guests, and they don’t take disrespect lightly.

I would imagine it would be so much better (for me to watch) if it was a total surprise (to them).
