Judge Andre M. Davis made the following statement on Wednesday announcing his retirement from the court:

With a keen appreciation for this mixed blessing, today I announce my retirement from the federal judiciary, effective on August 31, 2017, for the purpose of accepting Mayor Catherine Pugh’s request that I take on the responsibilities of Baltimore City Solicitor.

It's not just about the Supreme Court. Judge Davis was appointed to the District Court by then-President Clinton, and appointed to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit by then-President Obama.

The 4th Circuit covers the U.S. Courts in Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and West Virginia.

Great news. Time to replace with a Constitutionalist.

“President Trump knows what to do.”

Well, he needs to get on with it in earnest. There are 129 Federal Bench “openings” that he can and should fill in short order, including four in the Ninth Circuit. And we can only hope that he “breaks with tradition,” and DOES NOT take the applicants from the US Senators from the states where the vacancies exist. He has much better “lists of applicants” than do the politicians, particularly if they are RATs as is the case here in CA.

Need to get a constitutionist appointed pronto!

Over 100 positions open in federal judicial system. Only one nominated and waiting for confirmation.

Trump needs some lists from conservative think tanks of eligible people with our viewpoint

One hell of a step down, from U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals judge to Baltimore City Solicitor. Maybe he got an offer he couldn’t refuse.

I agree. And the President & Republicans in the Senate should end the (informal?) Senate “courtesy” of giving the Senator(s) of the state where a federal judiciary vacancy occurs VETO power over a nominee for that vacancy. THAT practice is how we end up with progressive snake judicial pits in places such as California.

Not if you are a member of the Ruling Political Class aka CRAP.

I’m sure our Pastor would take the job if asked by the President.

Until Obama, the 4th Circuit was perhaps the most conservative of all the courts. The last five or six years have been shocking to me as the rulings coming out of that court are 180 degrees opposite from what they traditionally have been.

Obama sure turned that court around. Hopefully this is step on in its restoration.

“Obama sure turned that Court around....”

Obama & Harry Reid’s change of Senate rules to allow approval of nominees with 51 votes. President Trump needs to begin the process of filling all existing vacancies with jurists who actually believe in the Constitution -— and get it done ASAP!

We all need to message the WH and suggest that
Keep suggesting the conservative thinking tanks need to be sending him names. Or maybe a staff member should look through the current list to see if someone could be elevated.

Hard to imagine Sessions wouldn’t have a list of good, qualified potential jurists.

Hopefully Trump will put that to rest shortly.

Now you know what we feel like out here in California, with the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals.

Take my word for it. Ours is much worse that the 4th.
