On Fox News, Charles Krauthammer predicts America will have single-payer health care within 7 years
This Week ^ | May 5, 2017

Conservative columnist and Fox News regular Charles Krauthammer is not a fan of the Affordable Care Act, but after House Republicans voted to partially repeal and replace it on Thursday, he said he thinks, ironically, ObamaCare won the day. "I think what conservatives and Republicans are beginning to understand is how the fundamental view of health care among the American people has changed," he told Tucker Carlson Thursday night.

"ObamaCare is a disaster on the ground," he said, "and politically it ruined the Democrats. However, there's an irony and a hidden victory here: Over these past seven years, people's expectations have changed. You watched the debate over the last three months, Tucker. What are the grounds? The grounds are all liberal grounds: How many people are going to lose their coverage? How can you leave people out in the cold? The Jimmy Kimmel thing. It's showing that the country is at a point where I think it believes in universal coverage."

"I saw a piece this week entitled 'The conservative case for single-payer,'" Carlson said. "I'm not sure most conservatives are there yet, but do you think that's where it's going?" Krauthammer said yes. "Whether it will end up single-payer, like in the Canadian system, or not, I'm not sure, but I will guarantee you this," he said: "Within a few years there won't even be an argument about whether or not government has an obligation to ensure that everybody gets health coverage."

Wasn’t that the GOPe’s intent all along? No doubt they are heavily invested in a single payer system.

Didn’t he also say Trump would not be President?

I don’t think so.

He doesn’t like the idea of a single-pay system but he feels the voting public has accepted the concept. And there’s a better than average chance he’s correct.

The question is, will some elected conservatives be willing to buck the tide? Based on history...probably not.

I actually agree with him completely on this.

We already lost the argument.

The second we caved on pre-conditions and worrying about people losing their coverage... it was over, whether we realize it or not.

The Democrats successfully equated healthcare with insurance, and now the two are the same in the eyes of the American people.

Just be done with this entire farce and offer universal medicaid for all. At least by doing that we will put the greedy insurance companies out of business that pushed Obamacare on us.

I think he’s right. You don’t hear many Republicans, and certainly not the President, making the case for free market solutions. Everyone thinks the government is responsible to take care of them.

We need to Cloward-Piven the darn thing and make Medicare, Medicaid, and Obamacare all go thoroughly bankrupt and convince people that government is utterly incapable of delivering medical care.

Predictions and opinions are 10cents/dozen. Too much air time to fill, so fill it with hot air. I wish these blabber mouths were paid based on the accuracy of their predictions.

I don't think that the 0.01% elite (like Charles Krauthammer) will ever put up with that.

With the notable exception of Canada, most other economically developed countries do not have single payer.

Switzerland has a completely private system, it costs much less money to operate than the US system, and the Swiss life expectancy is among the best of all countries.

Chuck is right on this one, and it will serve the liberal government employees right having to depend on government healthcare.

IIRC, like most of the media elete experts, Charles Krauthammer’s prediction about the 2016 election was completely wrong.

Off the deep end...

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Agreed, regarding his analysis. He’s once more exhibiting signs of bubble-itis. I think he need to get out and go for a motorized jaunt every once in a while OUTSIDE of NY.

Charles is 100% correct.

The democrats have won. They are way better at selling something to the public than the republicans.

There are two endgames for health care.

One of them is government guarantee of health care for all.

The other one is some people dying for lack of health care.

We must make a choice and accept the consequences.

Switzerland isn't trying to put the entire world on welfare either.

America's standard of living for the masses continues to nose-dive.

obamma helped create the give me give me give me society of government slaves.... except they don’t do anything except protest, cry, threaten and VOTE to keep their massars in control. “Free” health care is the ultimate chain to keep ‘em on the plantation.

I wonder how much Krauthammer pays for his health insurance?

*************************************************************

Well, not EXACTLY. What he said is Trump had no chance, his campaign was a joke, He had no ground game and would NEVER make it through the primary process.

Add to that that each time Trump said anything controversial Krauthammer was right there signalling “the end of Trump’s campaign”

“Switzerland has a completely private system, it costs much less money to operate than the US system, and the Swiss life expectancy is among the best of all countries.”

Yeah, and 50% of the population isn’t on welfare, and 99% of the population looks the same. Diversity doesn’t work!
