Next time you’re speeding, try the Comey defense. “I didn’t intend to speed.”

I actually sort of used that once -— accidentally.
In high school I had a 1966 Mustang fastback with a hoped up 396.
I was going up North on US 289 near Plano Texas when it was still a rural farm area at about 2:00 AM and got stopped for going like 72 in a 55 zone.
When the cop asked me if I knew I was going 72 n a 55 zone I blurted out something like “Oh thank God! I wasn’t paying attention thought I was getting stopped for going really fast.”
The guy laughed and asked what I meant. I told him “Sir, if I’d been meaning to speed I’d have been going a lot faster than that!”
The guy laughed and let me off with a warning.
I’ve forgotten how it worked but less than 20 mph over the limit was basically low level misdemeanor and was really cheap. Over that amount and you were in a lot more trouble.
That’s what baffles me, the law States gross negligence is all that is required for a conviction for passing classified info. I would think doing it thousands of times could not only be called negligent, but intentional as hell.
