Trump vows to broker Israeli-Palestinian peace, offers no new policies

President Donald Trump vowed on Wednesday to work to broker peace between Israel and the Palestinians as he hosted Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas at the White House but offered no clues about how he could break the deadlock and revive long-stalled negotiations.

In their first face-to-face meeting, Trump pressed Palestinian leaders to “speak in a unified voice against incitement” to violence against Israelis but he stopped short of explicitly recommitting his administration to a two-state solution to the decades-old conflict, a longstanding bedrock of U.S. policy.

"We will get this done,” Trump told Abbas during a joint appearance at the White House, saying he was prepared to act a mediator, facilitator or arbitrator between the two sides.

Abbas quickly reasserted the goal of a Palestinian state as vital to any rejuvenated peace process, reiterating that it must have its capital in Jerusalem with borders based on pre-1967 lines. Israel rejects a full return to 1967 borders as a threat to its security.

Now just a cotton pickin’ minit here. Let’s be fair. The same old formula has yielded the same old results for decades, a todo list with “try to make peace between Israel and the Palis” marked “tried, but what can you do?” What more could any POTUS hope for. Base funds on cessation of salaries for murderers? That would mean Abbas would not get a paycheck, nor at least half his government. Economic development? Only if the bribepayers will up their bakshish to the PA. Besides, if Abbas did make an agreement today, he’d be dead by tomorrow, whether the agreement lasted or not. Remember Anwar Sadat? Free elections? Worked great in Ghaza. Spinoza said that “where there’s no solution, there’s no problem.” Or as they say in Polish: Alla ‘zgina? Tak y dobrze. (If it’s stuck in the ice, the hell with it).

My radical solution is there is already two states - Israel and Jordan.

Jordan did annex the west bank formally after the 1st war with Israel. It was still Jordanian territory after Jordan kicked Arafat out for rebellion. It would still be Jordanian territory if they - Jordan - had not again gone to war against Israel.

Jordan has already a full peace treaty with Israel.

Jordan and Israel should enter another treaty with a program of gradual restoration of a large part of the west bank to Jordan. Israel can get the West Bank terms it wants from Jordan. There would be joint administration while they both sweep up the terrorists. There would be joint economic developments Israel and Jordan would carry out together. The agreement would not have date timelines to accomplishments, like for the political integration of the West Bank, but it would have bench marks, in a hierarchy where certain steps would have to be accomplished before other steps.

For Gaza, put it under joint Israeli-Egytian administration and expel Hamas.

Add that administration and eventual restoration of Gaza to Egypt as an addendum to the existing Israel-Egypt peace treaty. Like with the plan with Jordan, design the steps as benchmarks and not timelines. As some things actually get accomplished, like the political integration of Gaza, others steps can begin.

Historically, the Gazan’s were considered part of Egypt, at least administratively just as the West Bank was administered by Arabs most associated with Jordan. This “two state” solution would restore historic relationships and not invent a state that never existed.

Until Arafat was kicked out of Jordan, a “Palestinian State” was never on the political agenda of Arafat or any of the groups he was associated or partnered with. They were “Arab nationalists” seeking eventually to unite all the Arabs from Syria & Lebanon down through Palestine & Jordan into Egypt into one state. Ah yes, they were “Arabs” not “Palestinians”. Well those Arabs are part of the Arabs of Jordan and Gaza, and by restoring both the West Bank and Gaza to their historic modes of governance, with Jordan and Egypt, who both already have peace treaties with Israel, then the three countries - Israel, Jordan and Egypt, can jointly put the “Arab nationalists” to rest and bring peace to the area.

Yes there will be rebellion in the West Bank again, and quelling it will be a test for Jordan and Israel, as they will need each other’s cooperation. But it can be done.

And Hamas will have to find a foreign sanctuary that will except it, but no doubt Iran will be willing, as hatred of Israel exceeds their religious enmity with each other.

HOWEVER, the U.S. can only suggest such a solution. I would not seek any U.S. president to pressure Israel, Jordan and Egypt into it. Outside pressure will not be a glue that binds them to such an agreement with the necessary will to see it through. They would need to find the mutual gain from it in themselves.

The narrative is far beyond one man's ability to control. President Trump's decisions - successes or failures - serve to confuse the satan, so there's that. :)

Regardless of outward appearances, the Establishment [of Edom] is finished.

Dec 31, 1946 - Proclamation 2714

Back to business as usual. Also marking the new calendar year.

The President's action was generally regarded here as chiefly important from the psychological standpoint. It was viewed as a move to demonstrate that he wants to be a constitutional President and not to hold on to excessive powers granted to the Chief Executive through emergency proclamations and a state of war.

In addition, it is looked upon as an example to other nations to return to a peacetime structure. In effect, it was remarked in political circles, the President has said to Messrs., Attlee, Stalin and others that it is time for all the countries to get back to normal.

8 Tevet, the completion of the seventy (LXX):

Torah translated into Greek (246 BCE)

In a second attempt to translate the Torah into Greek (after an unsuccessful attempt 61 years earlier), the ruling Greek-Egyptian emperor Ptolemy gathered 72 Torah sages, had them sequestered in 72 separate rooms, and ordered them to each produce a translation. On the 8th of Tevet of the year 3515 from creation (246 BCE) they produced 72 corresponding translations, including identical changes in 13 places (where they each felt that a literal translation would constitute a corruption of the Torah's true meaning). This Greek rendition became known as the Septuagint, "of the seventy" (though later versions that carry this name are not believed to be true to the originals). Greek became a significant second language among Jews as a result of this translation. During Talmudic times, Tevet 8 was observed by some as a fast day, expressing the fear of the detrimental effect of the translation.

Recall the Serv-Pro memes, the election making as if the eight wretched years of Obama never even happened. Kind of like wiping out the memory of Amalek, like it never even happened. Well if the Obama regime "never even happened", then Donald J. Trump took the kingdom, being about 62 years old (because he was, in January 2009).

Trump tried for about 5 minutes to build a wall, then signed off on a Democrat Prohibition on building a wall.

Now he’s going to turn his strength and determination to Middle East Peace?
