Mulvaney: There are several hundred millions of dollars in the budget, for up-building border wall
Live press briefing | 5/2/2017

Posted on 05/02/2017 11:24:48 AM PDT by cba123

Mick Mulvaney, the budget director, is currently having a press conference.

I was watching it, and learned for the first time, that there is several hundreds of millions of dollars in the budget, for ramping up fencing on the border (now) upgrading to a 20-foot structurally sound, actual border.

This is the first I had heard of that.

It seems the President is looking at playing much harder ball in September.

It seems the 2017 budget was closed, as of the budget agreement.

I am much, much happier than I was a couple of days ago.

Good discussion Mr. Mulvaney, and happy 19th anniversary to you.

it’s absolutely sick how much is spent on illegals- democrats are whining about $25 billion for the wall but the reality is illegals are costing this country nearly a trillion dollars every single year=- Several years ago it was estimated between 400 and $600 billion- today it’s likely close to 1 trillion per year

Fake news = the demonrats spin that they “won” and many are buying their spin.>>>>>>>>>

The kids got their bag of candy while the adults necessarily had to take away the meat.

Military spending non-parity! Thank you Mr. Mulvany!

Trump should order concertina wire to be strung from coast to coast, and post 10,000 National Guard troops to enforce the border. The border does not have to be impenetrable, it just has to slow crossers down, as long as there is somebody there with a rifle to arrest them or shoot them as they come across.

Once the border is controlled, and there is no movement except at check-points, all this talk about a wall is arguing over details. Trump just needs to change the facts on the ground.

He has all the resources and manpower he needs to do this, and he can do it tomorrow.

If Trump did this today, he would be at 60% approval by next week.

Wire rusts and political will waxes and wanes. Walls are permanent. We need a wall. We want a wall.

Trump will not always be the President.

If Trump listens to you he won’t have a second term.

Folks need to assign far less credability and trust to the very fake media.

To be more informed, turn the media reporting upside down.
If the media reports the forest is black, the forest is prolly actually white

And I like the fact they are starting on the shovel ready sections.

They are in process to get easements, survey, build roads to support Fence erection, etc. to build a real wall where none currently exist

I enjoying the part when a “reporter” stated he was lying and no new wall was going to be erected.

Mulvaney turned around, looked at the big posters behind him showing the 20 foot wall beside the puny wall, then turned back to the reported with a look on his face that said “hey, look at the picture, how stupid can you be. You, Mr. Reporter, are stuck on stupid”

....I thought that Trump had dropped this issue...

Me too.

Then again, why publish the details.
Just do it! Go and build the Wall and have the ribbon cutting photo op when finished.

Last thing we need is for the Antifa/black bloc/hollyweird/progressive/marxist/smelly hippies blocking the bulldozers and manufacturing havoc at the construction sites

I think he means replacing the chain link fence with a 20 foot steel wall.

Still holding out for the added concertina wire

GJMY - The idea of a border wall is ridiculous. Why are we allowing ourselves to be put in such a position by foreign criminals and our money? It shouldn’t cost us a dime. Instead make it a felony - 10 years imprisonmemt, $500,000 fine, for anyone who employs or houses an illegal.

VAF - i like that idea, i’m wondering why we haven’t gone after the employees when it is partially their fault. excluding realistic fake ids.

Basically where the USA stands as of the end of the Obama two terms is as a Sanctuary Nation. The word went out that if you can get here, have a baby, bring your family, have family here, whatever; and if you can get you a job either under the table or with false ID's, then you would be OK and not touched and qualify for food stamps, assistance, send the kids to schools or daycare, the whole enchilada.

There has been little desire in our country to really face the issue. It has become an issue of compassion for the perpetrators who somehow are made out to be the victims.

Some years back my identity became stolen, and I had to report to the police the issue to get a fraud alert on my credit report (only one step of very many I had to undertake). But the point is that every time my identity was sold to someone, I would get notified of someone applying for credit to get a phone or cable or electric to their residence. Now, cable and electric are services to a specific address. When the police came to take the report for the fraud alert, I volunteered to testify in court and urged them to get the indicated police authority in Texas to go to the address and arrest them. Every time a new batch of credit inquiries came in and I had to clean up things, I insisted on the same. We knew EXACTLY where the perpetrators were! But they told me that would never happen, and it didn't. We are a sanctuary nation...

Can you imagine if there were a hotline setup for people to call and report addresses where illegals are trying to get cable, dish, power, telephone, etc.? Not being able to obtain these services because of the fear of truly getting caught for the ID crimes would upset the whole "underground railroad" that has been setup in our country for illegals. I would guess that certain companies would stop credit checks altogether, maybe even give their services away for free like we do with all the social services giveaways to welcome and encourage their illegal efforts.

Anyway, the wall sends the right message in my opinion. The substantial steel see through 20 footer and technological updates are fine with me. But if there is (and there is) more money for enforcement, then maybe we will begin seeing the days where people are held accountable to the law again. As a continuing victim, I am on occasion informed automatically of the exact address of new crops settling in the Texas, Colorado, and Oklahoma areas. Let's go get them!

Of course we want a wall.

Stopping illegal immigration by setting up a temporary fence of concertina wire, manned by the National guard, is a temporary measure.

What this will do is change the facts on the ground. Once there is no longer any illegal crossing, the political problem of building the wall is greatly simplified.

One approach might to be to set the concertina wire 40 feet inside the border, coast to coast. Then the wall can be added on top of the border at a later date, once all crossings have been stopped. The space between can become the patrol road.

This does not have to be a complicated, drawn out process. We can do something about the border wall right away, and we should.

An international border can be patrolled by regular Army troops. It will never happen but it should.

Honestly, the lawsuits over land acquisition could take 10 to 15 years to resolve.

The FERAL Government does not want the border sealed.

If they did they would march the 1st Infantry down there and some armor and in a day the issue would be over.

All this hoopla over a fence and wall is smoke and mirrors to cover the drugs that need to be imported daily into this country to fill the Senator and Representatives coffers

We’ve been bamboozled, gang. There is no wall coming. It is not “8-D chess”.

Come on now we all know if you are not playing 9D chess you never learned it.

The "wall" is coming with a great big wonderful door and Mexico is going to pay for it.

Put the military on the border with armor AND ROEs to shoot on sight. Border secure.

President Eartick
