As family and friends mourned the death of a 15-year-old boy shot in the head by a police officer in a Dallas suburb over the weekend, the police chief said Monday that new evidence showed the killing did not unfold the way the authorities had originally claimed.
The Police Department in Balch Springs, Tex., said Sunday that the officer, whose name has not been released, fired on a car carrying the teenager, Jordan Edwards, a freshman at Mesquite High School in Balch Springs, because the car was reversing down a street toward the officer in an aggressive manner.
But Jonathan Haber, the police chief, told reporters at a news conference on Monday afternoon that video showed the opposite.

Depends on which way time flows in the video..
That is a quick turnaround on the earlier report. WHY GIVE THE POLICE TIME TO DECOMPRESS BEFORE QUESTIONING?! They wouldn’t do that for a commoner, why give police time to get their story straight?
Police have all the time in the world to get their story straight.
They’ll need it here since the coroner has called this a homicide.
NYT talks about this but not the Black Panther who murdered a first responder today and shot a police officer.
The left is morally responsible for the assassinations taking place against our men and women in blue.
NYT praised Communism just the other day. Not sure I believe anything from it.
Homicide does not mean murder.
It’s simply the words of the police chief.
“the car was moving forward as the officers approached.”
The killer today in Dallas of the first responder and who also shot a police officer was a BLACK PANTHER.
I tried posting that story twice on FR and it was censored.
Perhaps the “censorship” is because your source is unreliable.
Last I heard, the paramedic is in critical but stable condition. The injured person being treated by the paramedic was a civilian. I believe the gunman and another person were later found dead.
I am sure as a police officer they will water it down but end of day, the cop killed a non-threatening, unarmed kid. With time to figure out a well-worded defense, he’ll either say the videos do not tell the whole story or he’ll say the gun accidentally discharged. I am bothered the cop is given time before being questioned. Smells of coverup, protecting themselves. No commoner would be allowed to go home, sleep on it, we’ll ask you tomorrow why you pulled the trigger.
“Homicide does not mean murder.”
No it doesn’t, but when a suspect’s story changes in the middle of a homicide investigation, it usually means murder.
” No commoner would be allowed to go home, sleep on it, well ask you tomorrow why you pulled the trigger.”
For everyone else, they are in a room, under the lights, sleep deprived and lawyer deprived.
My source is the DALLAS MORNING NEWS:
FR took down the story.
Seems like it’s pretty relevant that white police officers are being targeting by black militants.
But maybe the “Breaking News” stories are just more important.
You tell me.
NYC is finding that out right now with their bodycam program. NYPD will allow officers to review body-camera footage before submitting reports or making sworn statements about an incident. Crazy.
>> WHY GIVE THE POLICE TIME TO DECOMPRESS BEFORE QUESTIONING?! They wouldnt do that for a commoner, why give police time to get their story straight?
They are required by law to do so. Methinks, Sir, that you know little to nothing about interrogation. One sleep cycle before answering questions after a traumatic event is advisable for anyone, cop or not.
Assuming for a moment that you have a concealed carry permit, and if, God forbid it, you ever have to use the thing, consider: “Officer, I am happy to cooperate with your investigation in any way I can, but at the moment I’m so upset by what happened I couldn’t be of much help. I will be more than happy to cooperate after I have calmed down and had a chance to confer with my lawyer.”
At that point, all questioning stops.
(This from a nationally certified firearms Senior Training Counselor.)
“Im so upset by what happened I couldnt be of much help. I will be more than happy to cooperate after I have calmed down and had a chance to confer with my lawyer.
And the police write in their report, “Suspect said that he was upset at the time of the shooting and should have calmed down.”
After that, the haul you off to a jail cell.
Did you ping a mod or the Big Man (Jim Robinson)? Maybe there is a copyright issue or somesuch, or maybe there was a formatting error. They are pretty good about helping to fix and/or at least explain.
