Donald Trump would be ‘honored’ to meet Kim Jong Un

President Trump said he would “be honored” to meet with North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un amid heightened tensions over the rogue regime’s nuclear weapons program, a new report said Monday.

“If it would be appropriate for me to meet with him, I would absolutely, I would be honored to do it,” Trump said in an interview with Bloomberg News.

“If it’s under the, again, under the right circumstances. But I would do that.”

North Korea has become the most urgent national security threat and foreign policy issue facing Trump as his first 100 days in office passed. Kim’s regime has continued development of its nuclear and intercontinental ballistic missile programs in defiance of international condemnation and sanctions.

The murderous nutjob — who has had his own family members executed with flamethrowers and anti-aircraft weapons — has never met with a foreign leader since taking charge after his father’s death in 2011 and hasn’t left his isolated country.

“Most political people would never say that,” Trump said of his willingness to meet with the reclusive Kim, “but I’m telling you under the right circumstances, I would meet with him. We have breaking news.”

Meanwhile, the US’ top spy made a surprise trip to South Korea over the weekend — just as North Korea defied the Trump administration by vowing to strengthen its nuclear weapons program “to the maximum.”

Kim probably has 50 doubles.

Pretty easy since they all use the same bowl.

True; leftists would give a Nobel Prize to Yasser Arafat and Walter Duranty before they would give Trump any credit.

I don't think the leftists who choose the Nobel Peace Prize winners would ever consider Trump, although he has met one of the requirements: he has publicly attacked George W. Bush.

Maybe it's a New York thing. The last President born in New York met with Stalin, who killed a lot more people than Kim has so far.

Don’t get hung up on the word “honored”. It is just diplomatic jargon.

***********

Just the thought of an American president agreeing to meet with a dangerous madman like Kim is very disturbing, if not repulsive. Can you imagine Winston Churchill ever agreeing to meet with Hitler under any circumstances? Trump needs to show this guy for the monster that he is. People like Kim ONLY respond to a show of force which convinces them that their own life and regime are in grave danger.

People claim Trump isn’t diplomatic. He sure as hell is.

Roosevelt was willing to meet with Stalin.

Roosevelt was a socialist; he differed from Stalin in degree, not in kind.

Roosevelt was willing to meet with Stalin.

True but some different dynamics at play. Stalin was an ally in WW II. And Roosevelt and some of his advisers had known ideological sympathies with the Soviets.

I believe it was Roosevelt who referred to Stalin as “Uncle Joe”.

Regretfully, I have to agree with you Gideon.

Consider Reagan — brought down the Berlin Wall, and the Iron Curtain. Ended the cold war and the Soviet Union (Evil Empire). You won’t find his name on the list of Nobel Laureates.

Meanwhile, another former President, known, at the time, only for dramatic reading from Teleprompters, received one of those now dubious awards of progressive saintliness.

If you threaten to bomb my house with a bottle rocket and I am facing you with a shotgun, standing beside my husband and son with shotguns, what do I have to lose in offering to talk to you?

Since you are obviously crazy if you make that threat, I will offer to allow you to save face in an effort to stop the whole thing. Why stand there and insult you and make you determined to bomb me and die for it since you can’t back down without being humiliated unless I am just itching to kill you? I want to defuse the situation.

Kim can only ignite WWIII if we allow it, if we join in. It is in our best interests to make sure things don’t “escalate and spiral out of control.” Someone has to be the adult in this situation.

The master is working the “Art of the Deal.”

Play up to kim's ego. China can provide the "neutral" host location.

The goals of both North and South Korea are a reunification of all Korean people, speaking one language as one nation.

If Trump could bring that about, history will never forget him.

A good meeting location would be on the fantail of the U.S.S. Carl Vincent at flank speed into the wind. Trump’s last words to a shackled Kim: “Hope you were took lesson from Harry Houdini and Johnny Weismuller.”

But Kim will not leave North Korea. Kim’s rarely do that. It’s fraught with danger. The Kim’s have kept their whereabouts well-hidden as a survival technique.

Trump may be helping an internal coup. Having them meet in the demilitarized zone or just inside South Korea, maybe set lil chubby up for an internal coup.... oh, so sorry, didn’t mean for THAT to happen.

And Trump meant it would be an Honor To help the rest of the world, and especially US, get rid of this tyrant. But yeah, kiss his ass to get the rat into the open. You don’t put poison in the mousetrap, you put cheese.

That is well said FRiend. Don’t forget Reagan was president of the Screen Actors Guild and he won a great victory for actors (residual payments) yet is still despised by the commies in Hollywood.

What would lead you to believe that he will ever stop? Looking back historically, when has Kim ever ceased his bellicose ways? What evidence is there that would leave you to believe that a rapprochement with him is ever possible and that there is hope he would “stop the whole thing”? All efforts to contain and tame him have failed.

Just a few days ago the top U.S. commander in the Pacific expressed serious concerns about North Korea’s missile threats; he evidently thinks they are a lot more lethal “bottle rockets”.

Kim is a crazed lunatic who cannot be dissuaded from intimidating his neighbors. Unfortunately, he has the ability to kill millions of people (there are 10 million residents in the city of Seoul, a mere 35 miles from the DMZ). The only thing he and other tyrants understand is overwhelming force. Bullies don’t stop until they’re stopped.

Well, I guess then we should just blow North Korea off the map.

That will do wonders for our world reputation. Instant war with China and Russia. Instant war at home with liberals and horrified “conservatives.”

I’m sure with our depleted military, our nation full of snowflakes, our trillions in debt and the whole Uniparty pulling against us, we could handle that.
