Michael Smerconish: CNN’s Chris Cuomo “a Stud”
Legal Insurrection ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 05/01/2017 7:29:11 AM PDT by governsleastgovernsbest

During a discussion on CNN this morning of the health care mandate, radio host Michael Smerconish said, “The way in which you can afford to pay for people with pre-existing conditions is if you get a guy who’s a stud like Chris Cuomo who works out and is healthy, and get him into the pool.”

From far rejecting Smerconish’s embarrassing bit of ingratiation, Cuomo engaged in some dabbing that would make Cam Newton proud. See the screencap.

Because young and healthy people WANT TO pay $8,000 a year for health insurance they will never use!

He’s certainly the best-looking of one of the ugliest families in politics (his brother looks like Ted Bundy). But like many beauties, Chris is stupid as hell.

The way to get healthy people to buy health insurance:

cover people with pre-existing conditions via Medicaid, not via cross-subsidies (i.e., charging healthy people more).

make health insurance a bargain for healthy people, not a burden

The states run up against this problem time and again with car insurance. Trying to make car insurance affordable for high-risk drivers, they tend to put the cost on low-risk drivers. This drives up rates and causes increasing numbers of drivers to drive without insurance. The answer, discovered again and again, is to limit the cross-subsidies from low-risk to high-risk drivers.

Another dumb idea is no-fault. The idea is to save more on lawyer’s fees. The consequence, however, is that low-risk drivers wind up subsidizing high-risk drivers. There are other ways to save on lawyer’s fees.

A third dumb idea is lax law enforcement. Car theft and insurance fraud are big contributors to high auto insurance rates.

Add these things up, and it spells Democrats.

While the Democrats create the conditions of auto insurance becoming unaffordable, since auto insurance is a state-by-state thing, they can just jack rates or taxes up, or run a deficit to cover the problem over.

Now, what exactly are the problems with making health insurance affordable. Pre-existing conditions, lawyers and defensive medicine, and Medicaid fraud.

I.e., Democrats.

The only reason we know this is because of FR. Nobody in their right mind watches CNN.

Cuomo said if 13 year old girls objected to having sharing locker rooms with naked boys that was their problem and they needed more tolerance.
He was off the air for a couple of days and that was it.

That tells us everything we need to know about Smerconish.

I vividly remember in the early 2000’s, whatever the name of “I Heart Radio” was called back then replaced some great conservative morning shows (NOT Beck...) with the insipid drivel from this pusillanimous punk and you could actually hear the turn-off factor every week. After he had completely trashed their listenership the brain trust of that group finally canned the show.

It was a vivid lesson in how to completely lose an audience and millions of dollars in record time.

the bottom line is that insurance is gambling, even health insurance.

What makes absolutely no sense whatsoever, and what indicates to me that a person is completely intellectually un-serious and should be utterly disqualified from any adult discussion about health insurance is the notion that insurance can and should cover pre-existing conditions.

Health insurance” that “covers” pre-existing conditions IS NOT HEALTH INSURANCE. It is a fraudulent asset-shifting racket !

Insurance is only insurance if it is covering something that either HAS NOT YET HAPPENED or is NOT LIKELY TO HAPPEN.

Not only does this issue require serious adults, it requires honest people. Barring supernatural intervention, there will be no turning any of this around until serious adults that are also people of integrity occupy the halls of power.

In other words, we’re screwed.

I wish I had recordings of Smerconish when he was posing as a “conservative” talk show host during the Clinton administration. He actually read the Wall Street Journal article of the Clinton/Broderick rape incident on air.

From the title, I guessed he was comparing Cuomo’s intelligence to a 2x4 or maybe a horse.
