Mom’s post about not making her son share all the time goes viral
Share! Make sure you share! You have to share! This message is pounded into our brains our entire lives isn’t it? But, why? Is it really necessary to teach kids to share all the time? Are we even thinking about the message we’re sending, or just repeating a mantra we’ve been told our entire lives, too?
Alanya Kolberg was at the park with her son, Carson, last week. He brought a few action figures to share with a friend he was meeting. As soon as they got to the park, Carson was approached by a group of boys demanding he share his toy. The interaction inspired Kolberg to take to Facebook for a PSA of sorts. It should be required reading for all parents.
“MY CHILD IS NOT REQUIRED TO SHARE WITH YOURS,” she begins her post. Yes, those are shouty caps. Yes, they are necessary.
Kolberg explains that her son was approached by at least six boys all at once, demanding her son share his toys. When he shot a visibly overwhelmed look at his mom, she explained that he didn’t have to share.
“You can tell them no, Carson,” she said. “Just say no. You don’t have to say anything else.”
As soon as he said no, the boys ran to her to tattle that her son wasn’t sharing. So she explained to the kids, “He doesn’t have to share with you. He said no. If he wants to share, he will.”

I still remember one of my daughters little friends coming to me and telling me I had to make my daughter share. She had the nerve to demand it she HAS to share. Poor kid found out something about life that day when I said No in fact she doesn’t have to share.
Progressives love to share...other people's money. When it comes to their own they become invisible.

My mom taught me the same, and I’ve done so with my boys - Often I woukd explain to the children demanding a piece of the action, that there is something called “ PERSONAL PROPERTY “ and no one is required to share it, and it should be respected.

My daughter is about the same age as some of her cousins. Mine is homeschooled with not even an inkling of desire (Hers or ours) to “socialize”.
People get on me for the homeschooling ... “Yes, but how will you socialize her?” I won’t. It’s that simple.
Her cousins just come up to her and take things. They learn it in kindergarten. It’s eat or be eaten there. Nothing is theirs, and everything is theirs. It’s confusing and makes them little brats around mine.

Children share all the time. They sit at the same table, eat the same food, play in the same yard, drive around in the same car.
But personal possessions....they're all theirs to do with as they please.

Yep, and our wonderful public schools have already started teaching them cover stories and alibies.
Same thing happened to me several times.
