Why didnt he just stay a Senator?
When #nevertrumpers attack.
The “Establishment”, the “Dark Side” strikes again.
In other words the liberals are trying to take over Heritage
Guarantee you, if any democRATS come into the organization, they will NOT soften THEIR approach. They will take it over and make a sharp left turn. ‘RATS are like ragheads; they will NOT assimilate, they will take over and own (ruin) it.
Sounds like the GOPe is doing a hostile takeover.
We would be better served with DeMint in the senate.
JEALOUS, POWER HUNGRY pundits are the worst kind. Apparently the GOPe didn’t like the new REAL CONSERVIATIVE kid on the block.
We would be better served with DeMint in the senate.
I’m not really sure why I should care.
Conservatives don’t seem to actually do anything no matter where they may be or not be.
They just kind of sit there until eventually they get ousted and are not consequential.
( Millennials Cant Understand Castro Without Acknowledging His Legacy of Brutality)...the same no nothings that are marching for Soros and his ideas today.
Now that Jim Demint will soon be unemployed maybe he can be petitioned to return to the Senate via primary challenging Prissy Lindsey Graham in 2020 when Graham is next up for reelection to the Senate.
Demint is probably the one GOP figure in South Carolina who can for sure defeat Graham in a primary!
The US Senate and the USA as a whole would be a lot better off with Demint serving in it and Linda Graham OUT!
Just another worthless organization that pretends to be working for America and Americans to make life better and that government is the problem. Results to date, zero. All it is doing is raising money to keep the worthless organization going under false pretenses of helping you, us. And government grows larger and makes matters worse.
Heritage's founding generation was careful not to get too narrowly political. Heritage was a public policy think tank. It was obviously conservative and mostly Republican, and it was pleased to launch ideas into the policy mill, but it was careful to remain independent of narrow party faction. That's a hard line to draw. There's no question that DeMint is much more hands-on political. I expect that riled a good portion of the old Heritage gang (starting with the Board), who would argue that there are plenty of others already in the partisan political space, and that Heritage is better served by maintaining a degree of distance.
Heritage used to be the place that movement conservatives sent their checks when they were teed off at the Republican establishment on the Hill, or when a Republican president went squishy. It's one voice among many, but its a useful voice. I would sympathize with Heritage board members who want to maintain their independence. It's not Heritage's job to blindly support whatever the current Republican president wants to do.
I do not know why these successful organizations, like the Heritage Foundation, decide to "fiddle" with their game-winning formula. This organization was a think tank that everyone could count on to present the fair, objective viewpoint on every issue.
Like I said in the first paragraph, I can see the "Oops , we made a mistake with DeMint" change of the guard. But why "reach out to democRATS?
It happens in the business world all the time. Remember the new Coke? What a disaster. Look at ESPN right now. Decided to add politics to their "sports" job and blew it big time. Losing ratings, fans, and having to fire 100's of employees. Or Starbucks' idea to give 10,000 refugees employment? What about our own veterans? The public spoke in a backlash and their stock dived.
Anyway you get the idea. Messing with a winning formula for success can have the opposite intended effect. Heritage Foundation needs to stick with what's worked for them in the past. Why do they need to take a "softer" approach?
There is a much less hysterical story (Not yo mention more detailed and better sourced) on the dustup at the Washington Examiner site.
I get asked for donations. I got a letter today in fact. If what I read is true, I’ll not be sending them another donation. I do not want them sidling up to Democrats.
I wonder if there’s any coordination between this and this week’s protests at Heritage.
Does this have anything to do with the mini riot at the Heritage Center last week?
