Outdoor-clothing maker Patagonia hit back at President Trump on Wednesday, threatening to sue over an executive order calling for the Department of the Interior to review national monuments designated during Bill Clinton's, George W. Bush's and Barack Obama's presidencies.
A president does not have the authority to rescind a National Monument. An attempt to change the boundaries ignores the review process of cultural and historical characteristics and the public input, Patagonia CEO Rose Marcario said in a statement.

“September 18, 1996: President Clinton issued a proclamation establishing the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument.”
Here is one maybe. Looking at a list of them from Clinton, a lot of them were him signing legislation - so those would be harder to rescind. Not too many that I saw were created by an Executive Order which could be wiped out with another EO by Trump. I have no idea what a “proclamation” is - it sounds even less worthy than an EO. (I’m thinking of the Wizard of Oz at the end of the movie bestowing the medals and stuff on the lion, etc.)
Pata is French libs like the US North Face that put an end to the South Butt entrepreneur....
They’ve always been libtard for years.......which is why I’ve never bought from them.
L.L. Bean all the way.
Exactly right!
Who needs judges?
Transport the lot!
No standing...Case dismissed....Frivolous and vexatious lawsuit....Pay up attorney fees and costs...
Problem is, a lot of those millions of acres illegally grabbed by the Feds no longer allow outdoor activities under Obama’s orders. If that’s her beef, she’d better get her head unscrewed and her facts straight..
I remember years ago their CEO would not let employees bring ang eat meat at work, at lunch.
Marcario is a Californian, and it goes without saying, a flaming leftist. Worse, she’s a schnauzer.
Bump! Been thinking that might happen at some point in the future </SARC>
Another company so adept at sticking their foot up their collective asses. Just shut up, and that goes for Pensey’s spices, Nordstrom, Target,......and on and on.
Some San Fransicko fake judge will agree.
All:
Keep an eye on the precedent aspect of this lawsuit.
Didn’t Obama capriciously deem some offshore drilling areas to be ocean National Monuments? And swathes of Alaska?
That may be what they’re getting at: preventing liberal land-grabs from ever being rescinded by non-liberals when they’re in power.
Next liberal president: “All fracking sites are a national monument. All natural gas sites. All oil fields. All coal mines are national monuments.”
The one-way ratchet.
Looks like their overpriced products need some name recognition. I will never wear their products after this and the market they are in is over saturated with multiple manufacturers market lines of same/similar equipment with prices that vary as much as 400% just for a name brand.
If they design stuff it is no different from any number of name brands; just go to REI and look around. Better yet save your time and gas and look on Amazon.com. Patagonia jackets look just like the other brands, except for some stitching designs or cloth cut an inch here or there differently adding up to the same demenisions for a shirt, pants, jacket or backpack.
54 U.S. Code § 320301 - National monuments
(a)Presidential Declaration.
The President may, in the Presidents discretion, declare by public proclamation historic landmarks, historic and prehistoric structures, and other objects of historic or scientific interest that are situated on land owned or controlled by the Federal Government to be national monuments.
(b)Reservation of Land.
The President may reserve parcels of land as a part of the national monuments. The limits of the parcels shall be confined to the smallest area compatible with the proper care and management of the objects to be protected.
If the President can declare it, he can release it. And if he finds that an excessive amount of land was taken in comparison to that needed for the preservation of the monument, he is bound by law to release the land, since he does not have discretion to take too much land.
It's an impeachment trap! As soon as it's perceived that a court order has been ignored, the real S will hit the fan.
