I got a call about 8:20a...
This is Medical Alert and we have an emergency call from your address. W did not answer. Do you want me to send emergency personnel?
Not yet...I’m on my way home. I texted my sister to start calling hoping for an answer...and keep calling til I got home.
Twice more he called to tell me the button had been pushed and did I want the emergency folks. The base unit is in the living room and she should be in the bedroom. Speak loudly! The third time he called he said he heard her say Kathy.
When I got home she was on the floor with her feet just coming out of the bedroom. She has to have moved the commode then fallen...she has no clue if or how she fell. And she has no clue where she was going.
I called Karma and he came and got her up and back into bed. I spent the next half hour talking about staying in bed or using the commode, NOTHING else. I had already talked to my sister and she will call every 2 hours. She spent the afternoon researching the 3 names the Senior Center gave us last week. Later this week we will chat on the phone about what we are going to do. I don’t want to commit until I find out if the jello shots help, and if the meds work. If after 10 days to 2 weeks the low dose isn’t working I can up the dose to 2 pills. So for a couple more weeks we repeat 100 times...no going anywhere unless I’m home.
When I got home I had to do some rearranging. I moved the Medical Alert base to the bedroom, unplugging and replugging all the cords. Then calling them and testing the new positioning. All is now well, and we just got the light off after 20 more talks about staying put until I get home. And I’m catching a cold and shortly off to try for some sleep.
DANG!!!!! What a day you’ve had! God bless Karma for always being there for you when you need help getting her up and into bed again. No way you could do it yourself.
Gonna be a long couple of weeks waiting to see if the meds work. It sounds like her knees must feel a little better since she’s trying to walk around. A good thing if they feel better and yet a bad thing since she falls.
And now a cold on top of everything else. sheesh! I hope you can get a decent night’s sleep tonight. ((HUGZ))
Good morning Ma ((HUGS))
Sorry about that cold. Hope you are well soon.
Sorry that your mom is misbehaving.
Get much needed rest.
