Students in a math class at Riverview High School in Florida are being persecuted for their faith. They are punished for not removing their cross jewelry. They are harassed for not embracing the LGBT agenda pushed on them by their lesbian teacher. But one ninth-grade student is pushing back. Her attorneys filed a demand letter requiring the teacher to cease and desist by close of business Thursday.Cross.jpg - 500
Parents told Liberty Counsel that at least three students were not allowed to wear their cross necklaces. Math teacher Lora Jane Riedas claimed they were gang symbols. When one student asked why, Riedas told her she was disrespectful and she must take her necklace off. The necklace held a crucifix less than an inch long. The student felt she was forced to deny her faith.
Riedas is a member of the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Networks Leadership Institute. She engages in blatant LGBT political activism in her classroom. Her classroom is decorated with LGBT insignia and rainbows. She decorated students notebooks in rainbow stickers without their permission. She singled out one student for several false misbehavior claims after the student removed the sticker from her notebook.
Riedas has plans to promote GLSENs Day of Silence Friday. GLSENs guide requires students to take part in political activism. Liberty Counsel stated that students can either go along to get along or risk being outed as disagreeing with the teacher. Students are encouraged to support the LGBT agenda and Day of Silence by not speaking. Those who speak will be required to answer class questions.

In one of my high school classes a teacher tried some crap with a fellow student. The teacher was then grabbed and suspended over a third floor balcony rail. Two fellow students and I had to save the teacher from further action. Thereafter the teacher controlled his dictatorial tirades.
This is part of the harm that those folks said that they weren’t foisting on society.
Homosexual acts should still be illegal.
So, your rights are dependent upon where you are standing at the moment?
No open cross pendants on public (school) property? None on another’s private property that disallows it? Only on your own private property?
Really?
> Frankly, the LBGT is a cult that needs banned from the schools. <
Yep. LBGT and climate change are both nothing more than opinions. Schools should be in the business of teaching established facts, not opinions.
I don’t want see any teacher to arguing for LBGT rights. And for that matter, I don’t want see any teacher arguing against LBGT rights. Stick to teaching 1+1=2 and E=mc2.
>>But keep it under your shirt when you are working at a public institution.
Students are not workers. They are required by law to attend school.
But the rest of your ridiculous post is just beyond the pale. To equate a small cross necklace with the enslavement of the hijab is just stupid. A Christian should know better and should certainly know that Islam is not even a religion based on the true God. It was invented after Christ’s finished work on the cross and specially claims that his work on the cross is a lie and did not happen.
The Law of Non-Contradiction states that something cannot be A and Not A so Islam fails the Law of Non-Contradiction if you believe that Jesus Christ died to atone for our individual sins and that he is God.
I agree but students are understandably intimidated.
I once had a feminist teacher write on the chalkboard “When God made man she made a mistake”, this was back in 1984’ish. She left the room for a moment and I changed it to “When God made women he made a mistake”. When the teacher returned she went ballistic, demanded to know who did it. Nobody sold me out but she then stated that we’d all have to stay in her class, through lunch if necessary, until she found out. So I stood up and admitted it, along with saying, “...and what are you going to do about it?”, in a snarky tone. She thought for a moment, fuming, then just walked out of the classroom. She knew she really couldn’t DO anything, if anything, escalating it to anyone else may have made things worse for her.
When I was a kid, we called this communism and Nazism.
At some point people must deal with the fact, that homosexuals are after your kids. NAMBLA was once very open about their goals of accessing little boys. NAMBLA is still with us, but the name has changed and the goals expanded. Marriage is only one side of the issue with homosexuals. The other multi-billion dollar issue is the adverse effects on public health and the children that are abused by the NAMBLA members hiding in the closet. Male homosexuals have the highest incidence of HIV/AIDS, syphilis,
drug-resistant gonorrhea, entamoeba histolytica, chlamydia, herpes simplex II, Chancroid, Drug Resistant TB, Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis non A & B, just to name a few. Since I have worked in public health for years I know
too much about diseases and what constitutes today’s Typhoid Larry. It is not the pretty innocent picture of the innocent dancing fairy presented by Hollywood and the old media.
This kind of madness invites physical violence.
> So, your rights are dependent upon where you are standing at the moment? <
Actually, yes. I have the right to say “Chevy trucks are garbage” when I am at home, or when I am in a public square. But I don’t have the right to say “Chevy trucks are garbage” when I am at a Chevy dealership.
Bmk...I live two miles from this school...
So much for the government not infringing on your right to religious freedom.
The concept is exactly the OPPOSITE of what you state.
Having to hid crosses, Stars of David, or barring the wearing of a yamaka or hijab is not the intent of the First Amendment.
She needs to be hung or have a building dropped on her. I recommend a vacation tour of Iran.
> But the rest of your ridiculous post is just beyond the pale. <
Oh, sorry. I usually enjoy conversations with fellow FReepers. Sometimes I even learn something! But I will not trade insults. So I think I’ll pass on continuing any conversation with you.
Riedas needs her lesbian ass fired. Taxpayers don’t want their kids going to school only to be recruited by sexual deviants.
If you allow the crucifix at a public school, you must also allow the hijab.

That is based on assuming that mooslime is a religion.
It is not.
But that is a hard argument to make in today’s World.
Now consider satanism, which I believe does fit the definition of religion. Allow a cross, allow a pentagram or whatever. Gang tats ... where do they fit in???
This definition of religion is man’s idea of reaching toward a god or higher force.
Christianity is not that.
Wearing a cross may be (among other things) a statement of faith in Christ. Is making such a statement allowed in public school, verbally, for example?
We are soon coming to a time where the Image and Character of Christ will shine out of His Believers in such contrast with the World as to be indeniable. No cross will be needed. Christ’s Character will be so much more offensive to His enemies than any visual or verbal statement.
Then what? Sent to institutions as mental cases? Prosecuted for Hate speech? Persecuted publicly? Executed for some trumped up reason? Probably/ironically executed for desecrating “Church” tradition or blasphemy.
“SAFE SPACES” my butt!!
You have the right to speak freely but you do not have a right to your job afterwards.
You can shout fire in the theater but you may be prosecuted for damages and related felonies if there is in fact no fire
