Scientists and academics in Connecticut and across the country will head out of the labs and into the streets on Saturday Earth Day to confront what one organizer described as a lack of respect for science among some members of Congress and President Donald Trump.
"The scientific method is not a partisan issue, it's not something that should be divisive," said Harrison Hayward, a fourth-year UConn medical student organizing a Hartford rally, which will begin at noon at Mortensen Riverfront Plaza.
Diane Krause, a professor at the Yale School of Medicine, is heading up a New Haven event, which starts at 1 p.m. in East Rock Park and will include a science fair and rally followed by a march.
Trump's campaign slogan was Make America Great Again, and "we know that our science is one of the things that has made us great," Krause said. She admitted that it was a little "weird" that people will be marching in the streets for science, and particularly for conclusions "we thought were obvious" and that have had bipartisan support.
"Facts have been questioned," Krause said, referring to statements Trump administration officials have made regarding scientific conclusions about climate change. "Hard facts are being questioned."

Well, this should be fun to watch, here's an old song I like;)
Diane is not very scientific.
Riiiight - “Scientists” on the government tit.
Well we know they are paid for their consensus ,,, will they be paid to attend the rally ? My guess is YES !!!!
Snowflake Scientist, get a job!
These are not scientists; they are grant gobblers.
The last one is my favorite: “The science is settled.” Well if that is indeed the case, we don’t need to spend any more money on research, do we?
These are not scientists; they are grant gobblers.
For all of you who keep up hope that California will float out to sea, I give you Connecticut as an alternative candidate. It’s a whole hell of a lot smaller and the number of worthless pieces of human excrement per square foot is way, way greater than anything we could offer up here in CA. Besides, fat illegal aliens, I’m told, float real good!
"Scientists and academics" will head into the streets on Earth Day to demonstrate that they know nothing about the scientific method, and thus make fools of themselves.
It is NOT science to state that we have global warming and it is caused by mankind's uncontrolled emissions of carbon dioxide. And then to "cherry pick" data and events to prove that you are right. Spending billions of dollars to prove that we have AGW is not an application of the scientific method.
Just because carbon dioxide can be described as a greenhouse gas does not mean that we are all going to die. CO2 is needed by plants for them to grow. Carbon dioxide is a trace gas in the atmosphere.
Time would be better spent learning about the real science and issues, and why climate change is FAR from settled science.
Hint: The Sun has everything to do with climate change.
Well just think, Henk. If you were an environmental lawyer you could be a gazillionaire!
Lol! The planet is going to disappear now if we don’t join the collective. Another political liar.
You have "theory" and "hypothesis" reversed. Hypothesis comes first, and theory second. Theories are formed from testing hypotheses.
Oops, never mind; I see what you did.
Good point; perhaps the creator of the cartoon, which wasn't me, is insinuating that climate "scientists" wouldn't know the difference anyway. :-)
Yet, in holding scientific research and discovery in respect, as we should, we must also be alert to the equal and opposite danger that public policy could itself become the captive of a scientific-technological elite.

Yes, the Chinese and Saudis do pay well.
