Bill O'Reilly released a statement on Wednesday clarifying his departure from Fox News, saying that "completely unfounded claims" were the cause.
The departure came in the wake of multiple sexual harassment allegations against the cable news star, but his statement remained positive toward his former employer, Mediaite reported.
"Over the past 20 years at Fox News, I have been extremely proud to launch and lead one of the most successful news programs in history, which has consistently informed and entertained millions of Americans and significantly contributed to building Fox into the dominant news network in television," O'Reilly stated.
"It is tremendously disheartening that we part ways due to completely unfounded claims. But that is the unfortunate reality many of us in the public eye must live with today," he continued, alluding to the sexual harassment allegations.
"I will always look back on my time at Fox with great pride in the unprecedented success we achieved and with my deepest gratitude to all my dedicated viewers. I wish only the best for Fox News Channel," he concluded.
O'Reilly had worked for Fox News for over 20 years before he was released on Wednesday.

The “LEFT”displaying its power.
They had him on tape.
Remember all those women howling about Herman Caine? The instant he stepped down they all evaporated.
They had him on tape.

How do you know?
At least they didn't try to get him to apologize to Al Sharpton before they fired him.
They had him on tape.
and most likely phone records probably corroborated the calls to their cellular phones.
None of us know what happened here, but objectively there were signs of smoke and he and Fox had the opportunity to fight it. They chose not to and that opened the door for more just as the old man predicted.
The irony for me is listening to the faux outrage from the left about how women need to be protected from men of power. Where were these same persons when the President of the United States was sticking cigars in a young intern inside the Oval Office?
great point!
CNN reporting O’Reilly will walk out with tens of millions of dollars - wonder if he has to sigh a non compete.
Gold diggers.
What “tape” did they have him om? Link?
Sexual harassment in the form of “you look great in that dress” or calling a black girl “hot chocolate” and then “leering” at her is anything but, especially without witnesses.
Sexual harassment is saying “lets get it on” or worse. It is something blatantly and overtly sexual usually involving actually touching. At least it used to be.
In my view any woman who accuses a man of harassment had better have real PROOF or else they should be swiftly and ruinously sued for damages.
There was at one time a report that he was fired by the University he was working at because of ‘sexual’ content...
He lost custody of his children because of his rantings and ravings...
Did he carry these habits over to Fox News??? There were reasons why some of the women there quit or etc. and it wasn't all Alies that caused it, but I guess people there are not ready to talk yet...
I did read a couple of his ‘Killing’ books, did not like them, and I really never, when I had cable, watch him, he just had something about him that I didn't like...
Was this a ‘witch hunt’ I wouldn't doubt it, Fox News is going in the toilet along with the rest of the media, talking heads and radio show hosts, so this is not a surprise to me...
Why doesn’t he sue those Five women for the $$$ that he paid them to keep quiet?
I wonder what they will purchase with their 12 pieces of silver?
It's been my experience that one man can make comments that are acceptable while another man making the same comments would be hanged.
He did not protect himself from sexual harassment charges and should have known better. Trading him for Tucker is an upgrade.
They tried it with Trump and he just ran over top of them
I think that was a classy statement by BOR.
How many women tell a man, they like his tie, shirt.....I bet a lot! Or, their cologne smells good.
I don’t have cable and don’t watch even you tubes of FNC...can’t stand that station...
