Bill O'Reilly released a statement on Wednesday clarifying his departure from Fox News, saying that "completely unfounded claims" were the cause.
The departure came in the wake of multiple sexual harassment allegations against the cable news star, but his statement remained positive toward his former employer, Mediaite reported.
"Over the past 20 years at Fox News, I have been extremely proud to launch and lead one of the most successful news programs in history, which has consistently informed and entertained millions of Americans and significantly contributed to building Fox into the dominant news network in television," O'Reilly stated.
"It is tremendously disheartening that we part ways due to completely unfounded claims. But that is the unfortunate reality many of us in the public eye must live with today," he continued, alluding to the sexual harassment allegations.
"I will always look back on my time at Fox with great pride in the unprecedented success we achieved and with my deepest gratitude to all my dedicated viewers. I wish only the best for Fox News Channel," he concluded.
O'Reilly had worked for Fox News for over 20 years before he was released on Wednesday.

BOR’s producer finally taped him phone stalking her. Otherwise he wouldn’t have paid $9 million to settle. Billy has not embraced the concept that sometimes no really means no.
BOR was NOT a conservative! His meme "fairness," is from the COMMIE playbook! GOOD that he got his hand caught in her cookie jar!.....Remember how he handled Obuttman with kid gloves....BOR is an a$$ hat!
BOR can just take the show to another network and blow out the competition just like he has done for many years.
From an old case 13 years ago.
I don’t live like ‘sheep’...I make my own decisions as what to like, watch or listen to...
...and I didn’t say I NEVER watched FNC, at one time, I watched it all the time...and I do occasionally listen to Rush...
...do people have to explain to you what we do? Who are YOU to question what people do in their own lives???...
Yeah, the poor thing didn’t know how to hang up.
“He had to pay Paula Jones 800,000 dollars. “
This one for me is the sweetest, because Hillary immediately painted Paula Jones as White Trailer Trash . I’ll wager she isn’t living in a trailer now : )
You miss the point.
How did the information come out?
If it came from “the women”, they obviously violated their non-disclosure agreements, and would be liable.
It could have also been a leak from Brennan or Rice or some other nefarious source - the feds have files on all of us, including you.
“Bill O’Reilly released a statement on Wednesday clarifying his departure from Fox News, saying that “completely unfounded claims” were the cause.”
Sort of like his unfounded claims that we on FR are a bunch of racists who want Hillary dead.
What goes around comes around Billy boy.
Funny, the one who is really crying over this is Meghan Kelly. If she stuck around that spot could have been hers.
I suspect that what happened to BOR is typical of how these things go. Allegations of misconduct were made, and there was supporting evidence. But then after that, it became a matter of “piling on” where every parasite in the building came out to jump on him. So yes, there was merit to some of the claims, but I suspect to not all of them.
In any event, once there is blood in the water, the feeding frenzy begins and it becomes impossible to tell the truth in each individual allegation that doesn’t have the supporting evidence. However, it’s a behavioral or character flaw. Having proof BOR engaged in this conduct once does make it likely that he engaged in it more than once because that’s who he is. If he wasn’t that guy, you wouldn’t have him on tape.
So yes, he is what he is, but to what extent in any specific case the real truth will never be known. It doesn’t matter now.
Good work!
Wonder how the population of adult women in this country and the number of 50 Shades of Grey sold correlate in these events.....
I’ve never liked or watched BO’R ..... he’s just another presstitute POS in my opinion.
NOBODY pays tens of millions of dollars on “unfounded claims.”
Maybe he just misspoke; maybe he meant to say, “...claims I wish were undiscovered...”
“How do you know?”
O’Reilly was the proverbial goose that laid the golden egg for Fox. He was by far their most valuable asset. It is inconceivable that Fox would sack him without hard evidence against him. Rupert Murdoch is a very hard-nosed businessman who does not cave in to nuisance lawsuits or people looking for a free lunch at the expense of his network. Nope. O’Reilly is gone because he was a cad who got caught on tape and all the previous hush money settlements got exposed.
“Sexual harassment in the form of you look great in that dress or calling a black girl hot chocolate and then leering at her is anything but,”
Back in the old days, when I was a young woman,we called that “flirting” and we got a big kick out of it.
.
How do you know that?
Some at Fox News were crying he was fired:
http://www.vanityfair.com/news/2017/04/bill-oreillys-ouster-fox-executives-fear-theres-more-to-come
reactions to the news of OReillys departure were decidedly mixed in the newsroom. Some staffers cried.
O’Reilly succumbs to a continuous barrage of pu$$y whipping politics.
The left have waged a continuous campaign on Fox News’s towers of power, including Roger Ailes.
Now the left wants to use Fox News to manipulate conservatives.
But truly, I am close to unsubscribing Fox News from my Satellite feed.. They have lost the right side of their equation which produced decent news most of the time.
Even now through the week during business hours, you can see the little radical FOX NEWS wags like Marie Harf spinning the news for the left.
Prediction: Fox News is moving left and will lose many subscribers, possibly 30% to 40%.
“They had him on tape.”

Really? Do you have a link to support that claim or do you just MAKE THIS STUFF UP AS YOU GO?
I have yet to see a shred of evidence.
